Chapter 1
The bright sun light coming through window hits me. I stir on my bed. Facing against the window. Going back to sleep.
The phone starts to ring. I ignore it.
Again, it start to ring. I ignore it. Again. I just want to sleep.
There's silence for few minutes.
I annoyedly woke up when my phone ring for third time. Without looking at the caller, I answer the call.
"Where the fuck are you?" I heard a familiar voice.
I see the screen, "Sleeping." I answer.
"Girl, are you kidding me?" Hannah sounds annoy.
"Girl. Its weekend. I rest on weekends." I tell.
"Yay. Tell that to the host of 'The Influencer' who is coming to interview today." Hannah replies.
This information wakes me up instantly. "What?"
"Yay." Hannah says. "The interviewer just called me to inform that they want to meet you and interview you."
"You aren't joking?" I'm unable to believe it.
"Do you think I'm in mood to joke about this big news?" Hannah says, "Now, hurry up. Come here in 15 minutes."
"On my way." I disconnect the call. I get out of my bed, immediately. Within 5 minutes, I took shower. In next 5 minute, I got ready, as quick as possible. I drove my car to the office. Parking the car. I take elevator to reach my office, walking to the end of lobby. I push open the door of my office. On the door, there's a name plate. CEO office. Avalin Grant.
"Ava. Here you're." Hannah gets up from the seat. "You look quite good." She scans from head-to-toe. "Not bad."
Hannah Green. Director of Home Style. Second in command after me in the company as she has second largest shares in the company. She is my best friend. We went to same university. We were roommates as well. We study the same course. Business Management.
Hannah has always been cold. Strict. Obedient. Rule following person. She keeps everything to herself. It takes time for her to open up to someone. We're the fastest one for her. We are her closest to her.
Its amazing how we met each other at the dorm for the first time. From that moment on, we all became inseparable. We became such good friends to each other who share many ups and downs in life. Whenever we are in any kind of trouble, we are there for each other. We got each other's back. The strongest support system. A blessing to have them in my life. My true friends.
"This is what you get when you tell me to come in 15 minutes." I tell Hannah. Sitting on my chair. I take out the mirror from my drawer to take a look. "I don't understand. Wasn't the interview schedule for Tuesday. Why was is prepone to today, Saturday?"
"The host of the show has to go to out of country. For a very urgent interview." Hannah informs, "Her flight is of tonight. She wants to complete interview by today itself."
"Really?" I'm not sure about it, "Do you think this excuse is making sense?"
Hannah shakes her head, "No. It doesn't. But we can ask someone." She gives me a knowing look, "You know who."
I smile. "Let me call her." I take out my phone from my purse to call her.
Just at that moment, the door of the office opens, "Hello girls." Comes a loud, energetic and familiar voice. Sarah Gomez. She work as TV host. Just like Hannah, Sarah is my best friend.
Sarah is mood maker. The bundle of sunshine. Optimistic. The one who bought us together. Extrovert in nature.
"Just about to call you." I tell.
"Think of the devil and devil is here." Hannah comments.
Sarah looks at her, "That's rude to call your friend devil." She says and side hug Hannah.
Hannah smiles and hugs her.
"Tell me, why the interview is prepone?" I ask.
"Well, Jenny has to go out of country to interview a very important person." Sarah answers.
"Do you think I'll believe?" I'm suspicious. "Isn't it a lame excuse. Do you want me to believe it?"
"Believe it or not. It's true." Sarah says, "That person is consider 'Business Genius'." She quotes. Looking at me, "You know that person."
That person agreed to give interview. "He agreed?" Unable to believe.
"Tons of invitations were sent. Lots of requests. Convincing his secretary over hundred times." She narrates the process. "After a month of hard work and continue follow-up. He agreed."
I fidget the ring in my finger. "That's how he is." I sigh, "Let's change the topic. Where is she? I'm ready for the interview."
Sarah rolls her lips together, "Actually... The thing is..." She hesitate to speak.
"Tell me."
"Actually the thing is I'm going to interview you." Sarah joins her hands in polite manner. "It was the last minute decision to send me to interview you. I'm your interviewer."
I gaze at Sarah. Getting up from my seat. I walk to her.
"Don't be mad." Sarah takes a step back.
"If you were going to interview me, we could have done it on Tuesday. Instead of today?" I sigh.
"I know you take weekends off." Sarah joins her is sorry gesture. "I'm sorry. Really sorry." She apologies. "You know I felt exactly the same like you, when the staff called me to inform that I've to interview you. I know you buddy. I was also flustered and annoy like you." She explains. "You know he's interview is of more worth. So, Roxy left every other work for this interview."
"Is his interview more valuable than me?" I question.
"Yes." Sarah nods her head. "His worth is in trillions. Richest man. Of course he's more valuable." She says in matter of fact. "Also, he doesn't like to give interviews. Getting his one interview is enough to be on the top spot for almost a week."
She has a point. Getting his interview will guarantee top spot in the media for a week. The hottest trending search. #1 in trending.
I sigh. Understanding the business. I can't do anything now. "Next time, inform me. Please." I tell Sarah. "Let's get started with the interview."
