Chapter 1: Shadows and Starlight
The winds howled in the mountain passes of Vanehelm, swirling around the peaks like frantic, sentient spirits. High above the clouds, the heart of the dragon kingdom pulsed, echoing the vibrant energy of its inhabitants. Here, dragons soared—fierce and untamed—an unbroken lineage stretching back millennia. It was home to Morrighan, a name yet to be known among her kin.
But on a fateful night, a darkness swept over Vanehelm. Under the guise of a raven-black storm, a band of shadowy figures emerged from the depths of human greed.
They struck swiftly, in a wave of clashing steel and hidden sorcery, carrying a single cry on the wind that sounded like a lament—a single child’s wail—a warning for what was to come.
Morrighan, still an infant, was taken from her distant kin, whisked away into a world that twisted and turned, unfurling like a dark leaf beneath the weight of a thousand burdens.
The last thing she saw before plunging into the void was the silvery scales of her dragon mother, gleaming beneath the moonlight, a beacon of hope in her dawning darkness. Then it all faded to black.
