Querido A.,

No sé si estas palabras llegarán a tocar tus manos alguna vez, pero igual las escribo. Hace años que no recibo respuesta, pero sigo enviando cartas. No porque espere que vuelvas a escribirme, sino porque todavía no aprendí a dejar de hablarte.

No sé por qué sigo escribiéndote. A veces pienso que estas cartas no son más que botellas al mar en un océano donde nunca hubo orillas. Pero igual me siento, doblo el papel con cuidado, escribo tu nombre y dejo que la tinta haga lo que mi voz ya no puede.

Hoy pasé por el Rosedal. Me acordé de vos, de lo mucho que odiabas el perfume de las flores. Decías que era demasiado dulce, que te mareaba, y sin embargo siempre terminábamos sentados en el mismo banco junto al lago. “Porque el reflejo del agua vale la pena”, decías. Era nuestra rutina: caminar entre los senderos de rosas, discutir sobre cuál tenía el color más bonito (vos insistías en que el blanco era el más elegante, yo en que el rojo era el más vivo), y terminar riéndonos de cualquier tontería.

Aquella tarde de primavera en la que te robé un beso por última vez también fue ahí, ¿te acordás? Estábamos sentados bajo un sauce, con el viento moviendo sus ramas como si el árbol quisiera escucharnos en secreto. Teníamos casi veinte y veintiún años. Y un mundo entero por delante. Yo me acerqué, vos me miraste, y durante un segundo dudé. Pero después cerraste los ojos, y supe que también lo estabas esperando.

Me pregunto si en el lugar donde estás ahora hay parques como este. Si alguna vez encontraste un sitio donde el perfume de las flores no te aturda. Me pregunto si alguna vez te sentaste bajo otro sauce y recordaste aquel beso.

A la vuelta pasé por la esquina donde solíamos esperarnos. La misma esquina donde me abrazaste por primera vez, donde dijiste que el mundo podía ser cualquier cosa mientras estuviéramos juntos. Es extraño, ¿sabés? Ahora esa esquina no tiene nada de especial. Es solo una vereda más, con autos que pasan y gente que nunca nos vio reír.

Buenos Aires sigue igual, pero también es otra. Hay más edificios, más autos, menos veredas rotas. El tiempo pasa y la ciudad sigue creciendo, pero yo sigo atrapada en esos recuerdos, en los mismos rincones donde alguna vez fuimos felices. Quizás por eso sigo escribiéndote. Para que no se pierdan, para que no se olviden.

A veces me pregunto si Buenos Aires también te extraña. Si las luces de la ciudad todavía guardan tu sombra en alguna vidriera, si alguna baldosa floja conserva la memoria de tus pasos. Pero quizás ya no tiene sentido preguntarse esas cosas. Vos te fuiste, y la ciudad siguió girando sin vos. Lo único que no aprendió a seguir girando soy yo.

No espero que me respondas. Solo quería escribirte una vez más. Aunque sé que no es la última. No espero respuesta. Pero si alguna vez volvés, vas a encontrarme ahí, en el mismo banco junto al lago, esperando verte doblar la esquina.
