Prologue

After the Great Purge of the world you know as Earth, the survivors that were left started a new society with what was left. It took thousands of years for the land to become fully livable again, so people created civilizations underground. These people have been given the nickname the Earthworms.

After generations had passed, they emerged to the surface and saw all the buildings from the old world still standing. After all this time, greenery was left everywhere. Over the next 1,000 years, the remnants of the old world started to serve a purpose. Small structures, such as temples, survived just barely, while castles stood strong.

Later, people moved to what is known as Old Japan, and the rest of the world was destroyed and became uninhabitable. But New Japan became that haven the world needed because Japan was so technologically advanced in the first place.

Now this is where our real story starts—in the new world called Santaria, in the New Japan, in Oraxia, the City of Dawn.

You see, in this new city, the new and old create this great civilization. The skyscrapers of the old world have crumbled and fallen, though some still stand, covered in greenery, used by people as housing and elevated farms. Some were reinforced to lean on the tall, glowing cyberpunk towers, mixing the old and the new to create harmony.

In these cyberpunk towers are the rich and powerful businessmen and women. In the neighborhoods are old stone castles that the Earthworms built in the first 100 years after they emerged. These castles are for the upper class and those who are considered the guards for the king and the city, almost like a police force.

Then there are the temples, which can range from housing to homeless camps and even small businesses. There are also normal, modern homes. On the outskirts are the Scrap Havens, where bandits and the poor live. They live in the forest, barren wastelands, on the beach, and there is a separate group of people in the mountains who live as monks.

We are ruled by a king who sits in an advanced floating castle that hovers in the sky above Oraxia. You see, the knights have protective armor that is fused with new-age technology, like plasma rifles and holo shields. (Plasma rifles are energy-powered blasters, and holo shields are forcefield-like barriers.)

In the Scrap Haven, bandits run rampant. There are many gangs here, along with the homeless and less fortunate, who build their shelters from the scrap the city throws away, using leftover building materials. There are three large Scrap Havens throughout Santaria, all located in what used to be Japan.

Old Japan is where Santaria sits, and the Scrap Havens surround the island. The three “mother locations” (considered the control centers for the Scrap Havens) are located on the o the forest.

In the city, technology has been developed that can grant a person basic levels of pow their vitality. If you have immense dynamism, you can transform your body beyond recognition.
