Summary

Penny Lanoue’s not just a witch. Her path as a cartographer allows her to read residual magic to recreate rituals and to create advanced spells in the span of a breath. So when a ritualistic murder in New Orleans reveals some unnatural combination of spellcrafter and werewolf is on the prowl looking for both wolves and crafters to slaughter, it’s Penny who has to deal with it. Penny knows nothing about wolves, but Mila does. As a wolf, she’s been burned by the world so often that turning to ice was her only way to survive. As she and Penny work to find the hellhound slaughtering their kind, she discovers Penny’s fire burns as hot as any other. But not all fires burn with the intent to destroy, and the only way they’re going to survive is if Mila learns to trust the very thing that could destroy her.
