"The book's beginning, describing the new breach in Dante's house, is another utterly suspenseful moment that shocked me, aside from the concurrent attacks from the outside that fueled the Reaper's wrath. Breaking into the mansion and succeeding in kidnapping Alessandro is just wow! Of course, this set Alexa over the edge and the problems became bigger than expected. I was furious with Matteo's cockiness and mockery (especially since Dante's rage had crossed the boiling point like never before, leaving him a broken man and showing he was defeated), yet I was also ravished by pure thrill at the anticipation of what was about to come. Obviously, we all dream of a connection with love and devotion like Dante's and Alexa's (except for their dangerous lives, of course). Still, I swear that the support from his henchmen (especially from Nicola, Luca, and many others) is just as meaningful and heartwarming as the romantic relationship. When Dante fell apart and Nicola's recomfort shone, like "Will the Reaper rise and fight with me?", along with countless other moments, I couldn't feel happier for this kind of loyalty. In contrast, after finding some strength to fight again and plan out their next moves, when he found out about another cruelty brought to his family, Dante's line "This whole thing... Nicola, I'm not coping" or Matteo's "I just lost the last person in this world who truly cared about me..." hit me way harder than expected. The most surprising moment for me was Matteo's and Roberto's encounter, I just couldn't stop my tears from falling. His faith in his brother and his attempt to raise the good side from him, while there was no rage to that unexpected attack... this situation represented one of the most emotional moments from the book, alongside the perpetual attacks and threats on Alexa and both her children, yet another rape on her was the worst. At least Willow's feistiness close to the end brought a little good mood, in contrast to all the sorrowful emotions. The countless moments of torture during the henchemen's interrogations are truly amazing. Dante's control is much-welcomed between the two moments that best represented his breaking points. The fact that his grandfather-in-law (Liam Levine) assisted him in those interrogations, they had a little fun and beautifully worked together, is a big bonus added to the story, validating more the importance of the family.
