Fairy tale 1
Night was falling, and the boy Seva was getting ready for bed. His mother covered him with a warm blanket, kissed him, and he fell into a sweet sleep.
And somewhere far, far away in the North, where severe frosts rage, stands the Ice City.
“Why is it icy?” you ask. Because everything there is icy. Icy houses, icy roads, icy rivers, and icy bridges. Even the trees and bushes are icy.
And in this Ice City live little gnomes, who are dressed in blue frock coats and caps with bells. And, of course, they only eat icy food there: icy ice cream, icy cake, or icy pie, and wash it all down with icy cocoa.
Also, in the Ice City blows a cold, icy wind. When it appears, all the gnomes must quickly hide in their houses so that it doesn’t blow them away and carry them far, far away.
And on this very night, such a strong icy wind blew. All the gnomes scattered to their homes, but one didn’t manage to hide. The wind picked him up and carried him far, far away from the northern Ice City, right to the house of the boy Seva.
Knock-knock, knock-knock. The gnome knocked on the window. “Oh, who’s there?” the boy Seva woke up.
Knock-knock.
“Oh, who is it?” the boy Seva wondered. He ran to the window, opened it, and saw a little gnome on the windowsill.
“Who are you?” asked the boy Seva.
“I am the gnome Icek,” replied the stranger.
“And where did you come from and what are you doing here?”
And the gnome told him his story about how he lives far, far away in the Ice City, and the icy wind brought him here.
“And what to do now, how will you get home?” asked the wizard Seva.
“Now I have to wait for the next icy wind to carry me home, and it will blow only tomorrow morning,” replied Icek.
“Well, then, let me show you my house,” said the boy Seva.
He invited Icek into the room and began the tour: “This is our nursery. Here, on the shelf, are my toys. Look what they are.”
“Wow... the gnome was very surprised, - how many of them and how beautiful they are.”
The boy Seva was very pleased that Icek liked his toys.
“And let’s go, I’ll show you something else,” said Seva and led him further through the house.
He continued: “This is our big room. I really like to play here, and we can gather with our whole family at that big white table. At dinner, we like to talk about how our day went. Oh, let me treat you to something.”
The wizard Seva and the gnome Icek ran to the kitchen, and together they made an apple pie. It was very interesting and tasty for the gnome, as he had never eaten anything but icy ice cream, icy cake, or icy pie.
After tasting it, they ate another baked apple each and washed it down with delicious berry juice.
Icek liked everything very much, he even wrote down the recipes for the dishes.
And at this time, the first rays of the sun appeared in the window. This meant that the icy wind would blow now, and our friends had to hurry. They ran to the nursery, the wizard Seva opened the window, Icek jumped onto the windowsill, and the icy wind picked him up.
Flying away, Icek shouted:
“Thank you for everything! Goodbye! Everything was wonderful!”
“Thank you too! I was glad to meet you! Fly in again,” replied Seva.
“I will definitely fly in,” the gnome shouted.
But the wizard Seva could no longer hear him, Icek was very far away.
The gnome Icek flew back to his ice city
and opened a cafe where he treated everyone to delicious pie, baked apples, and berry juice. All the residents of the Ice City loved these dishes very much.
And on the other side of the world, the boy Seva looked out the window and waited for Icek to visit him, coming up with new recipes for delicious treats.
