First & Last Chapter
She was absolutely gorgeous.
Breathtaking.
She was not only that, but fierce and smart. She taught me things I had never heard about before. She taught me how to feel alive.
Like now, we’re sitting on the top of a bridge she made me climb. She had always been a free spirit and God, I loved it.
I never knew I could feel this much for someone.
As she rambled on about how beautiful the view was, I couldn’t look away from her. I wanted to tell her how she was much better than the view, how the view could never make my heart skip a beat. I wanted to tell her that the view never took up every space in my mind, that it never came in my dreams. But I couldn’t.
She was just a few inches away from me, yet we were worlds apart. I could just reach out and touch her, hold her hand. But I’d never hold her like her boyfriend does.
It broke my heart to know that she could never love me back.
It broke my heart to know I’d always just be her friend when I wanted so much more.
I wanted to love her, hold her, wipe away her tears when she was sad. I wanted to be the reason for her smile and laugh. I wanted her to love me too. But she’d never go for a girl like me, we both knew that.
Even though I knew she’d never like me, I could never hate her. It wasn’t her fault that I fell for a girl out of my league. It was a bittersweet moment, a hurtful moment she made better by just being there.
