Mono El Maxi (Maxi’s Monologue)
BREAKING NEWS: LORD SIDIOUS STRIKES AGAIN
Demons and ghouls are running rapid through the village. Homomagis are disappearing. Will the madness ever end?!
The words of the news reporter fade into the buzzing sound of silence as I begin to space out. A distant cry can be heard. People running away. I sit in my house, not moving an inch at the sound of their terror. I have gotten used to the purges. I am unbothered. They never target humans. When purges are over some nominations actually venture out to find the one responsible. No one ever comes back from these quests. I remember when my dad went. He thought he could fight the devil with basic weapons. He smuggled enchantment minerials, thinking he had a chance. I cried the night he didn't come back. I could hear Mother crying and yelling in her bathroom downstairs. It hurt to see her in that state. She made me promise to never seek the monster no matter who got hurt. Yet, every news report pushes me closer to shoving my spear through his eye. Mother thinks I am too fragile to fight. Little does she know, I have collected many things to aid me in battle. Before my grandmother passed, she taught me how to make potions and I keep the recipes under my bed. Second chances, death cheaters, poisons, shields, and concealers lie in my possession. Not only that, Mother knows that I have been practicing combat techniques and moves since I was young. My grandfather was a human too. Since he couldn't fight with magic he became a blacksmith and crafted weapons. His gift for me on my my third birthday was an explosive bow and arrow. Meant to blow on impact. That aside, my spear wielding is incredibly deadly. I could easily pierce anything standing in my way, coming out of a scrap without a scratch. Let's not forget-
"Max, stop thinking about your combat skills."
Mom says that I tends to think loudly when it comes to fighting. I believe she just likes reading my mind for fun. Mother is telekinetic, she can read minds, but only when someone is spaced out, unconscious, or asleep. She can also dream skate. Viewing others dreams and being able to alter them if desired. I have never had a nightmare thanks to her.
"Stop monologing in your head and eat your breakfast."
"Yes ma'am," I say sighing and rolling my eyes. I pick at the smiley face pancakes sitting on my plate. So childish. Staring at them annoys me. I scarf them down and look at the television. There are no more citizens of hell on the streets. I can only assume that the broadcast is over due to the dead news reporter on the ground with blood flowing from his head. I ate the smiles because they shouldn't exist in a time like this.
I retrieve my weapons from upstairs and proceed to the backyard to train.
I have created my own training course and battle arena. I smack the button on the fence post and head on in with my spear.
