"Interesting look into the back side of rock and roll. While I would have felt extremely uncomfortable with these experiences, this book allowed me to see a side of life that was totally foreign to my own experiences."
In the beginning, there was Rock and Roll
"This is the second book I've read by Ms.Carroll, and it has a very different feel than her memoir, Even Rock and Roll has Fairy Tales. The first chapter is lovingly written and reminds me of Truman Capote's work, and so I sat right down and read Saving Amazing GraceLynn from start to finish. The story is about a young girl who runs way from home to the big city. While there she discovers Rock and Roll concerts and how to meet the bands at them. At times I was afraid for her, exasperated at her, and happy for her. And while the end of the book was reminiscent of Ms. Carroll's memoir, the book as a whole stands as a success on its own. I gave the book 3 1/2 stars - The writing is much improved and lovely at times; this book is mostly back story for the series, so the plot is just starting; and this is not my favorite genre. That being said, If you like to read about rock stars and their young and wild fans, you won't regret reading about GraceLynn."
