Allie
The world was a scary place. Allie knew that since she was a child. She doesn't remember the first time she got to know that, but she remembers that Nate was there. She doesn't remember what he said or what he thought or what he did, just his presence. His presence has been essential to her life. Although, she never knows if he's in a room or not, because of his nature of keeping to himself. She always knows when he leaves a room.
She can instantly feel the room getting colder. Nate was that kind of person to her. He was that irrelevant and all over the place. Most of the time it annoyed her, this dependence on him for no real reason. It annoyed her that he never said anything about what was between them.
But that was him, she had gotten used to this. She knew should not expect anything more or less.
"Ouch!" Allie said turning her head. "Where are you looking? Be quick."
Nate was pinning her dress, his fingers in the middle of her back, tightening and placing the pins, she had a show in the next forty-five minutes. He didn't say anything but shook his head.
When he was done, he placed her hands on her shoulders and looked into her eyes, through the mirror. His smile, almost there but not entirely, annoyed her all the time.
"I am a genius." Said he and Allie scoffed. "Look at you, I can't believe you're the same girl who used to run around in bloomers." She scoffed again, he said this into her ear, so that no one around could hear. He looked again into her eyes through the mirror and she blushed a little. Just because he was so tall that despite her heels, he towered over her, his head marking the end of her body and his shoulders enveloping hers. She gulped down and looked away.
He took her hands off her shoulders, she turned for her touch up, he stood beside her while the make up girl did her bit. He kept his hand on the little of her back.
"All done." Lisha said and smiled. Everything was perfect. This is Nate's first bit, it has to be perfect. Allie would make sure of it.
Ever since they got back from the show Nate has been on the ninth cloud. Allie has never seen him so happy. But even at the heights of his happiness, he comes home washes up, starts cutting up vegetables to make salad. He doesn't back away from the routine, makes a sandwich for her and salad for himself. Both sit on the couch in the living room eating off of each other's plates.
"Keep off to your one", he shouts munching, as she takes one bite. So much for so little, she thinks.
"It's all mine, this is my house if you remember. My vegetables and my cheese and my sandwich." And my Nate she thinks, but doesn't say it out.
He pulls her towards him with one hand, takes the sandwich into his mouth, gulping it down and smiling to her face, not breaking a sweat.
And she thought he couldn't be more annoying, or hotter. He smiles and she couldn't help herself but smile in return.
