Chapter 1: New Beginnings
The first thing Jamie noticed when they arrived in the tiny town was how quiet everything was. The streets were lined with old brick buildings, their windows reflecting the golden afternoon sun. The air smelled faintly of pine and something else—something familiar but distant, like a memory waiting to be uncovered.
"Wow," Jamie whispered, gazing out the window of the car. "This place is... different."
Mom smiled in the front seat. "It's small, but it’s home. You'll like it here."
Jamie nodded, trying to feel excited, but a knot of nerves twisted in their stomach. Moving to a new place always felt strange—like starting a story in the middle, not knowing how it would turn out.
As they pulled up in front of a modest house with a small yard, Jamie took a deep breath. They were about to step into a new chapter—one filled with unknowns, new faces, and maybe, just maybe, something special waiting to be found.
Later that afternoon, Jamie wandered around their new neighborhood, eager to explore. The streets were lined with trees, and in the distance, they spotted a faded sign pointing toward the town’s park.
Curiosity pulled Jamie in that direction. As they approached the park, they noticed an old, wrought-iron gate partially hidden by thick vines. Beyond it, overgrown bushes and a tangled path beckoned.
“Is anyone still using that?” Jamie wondered aloud, brushing aside a branch.
They hesitated, then stepped through. The gate squeaked as it swung open, revealing a forgotten corner of the park—the old garden.
It was wild and beautiful in its own way. Flowers struggled through cracks in the stone, and a crumbling stone fountain sat silent at the center, moss covering its surface. The air smelled of earth and secrets.
Jamie’s eyes widened. Something about this place felt special, like it was hiding stories just beneath the surface.
A faint breeze stirred the leaves, and for a moment, Jamie felt a flicker of hope. Maybe this garden was more than just an overgrown patch of land. Maybe it was a place for new beginnings—just like them.
They took a tentative step inside, ready to see what secrets this forgotten garden might hold.
