Summary

Before a singing competition, a fire broke out in the community, destroying my voice and leaving me with a broken leg. From then on, my life was shattered. When I wanted to jump from the rooftop in despair, my boyfriend, Leo , proposed to me, promising to love me for a lifetime. We were happily married for five years. But one day, I went to his lab to bring him lunch and overheard a conversation between him and a colleague. “Leo, you burned your wife’s house back then, causing her to lose her voice and be disabled. Now that we’ve developed a special drug, after all these years of marriage, aren’t you going to use it to cure her?” “I can’t cure her! She’s Cici’s competition. To fulfill Cici’s dream, I can’t let Wendy stand in Cici’s way!” “But she’s your wife, Leo!” “So what if she’s my wife? I’ve lived my life for Cici !” Tears streamed down my face. Since he never loved me, I swore never to let him find me again!

Chapter 1

A fire before a singing competition

plunged my life into darkness.

My boyfriend’s love helped me reignite my hope for life.

But now, everything I hear

makes me feel cold all over.

My boyfriend was the one who started the fire.

To help his moonlight gain fame and fortune,

he didn’t hesitate to destroy me.

Even the reason I haven’t had children all these years

is because he’s been drugging me to show loyalty to his moonlight.

He even thought that marrying me could compensate for everything.

I’m leaving his world,

making him pay a heavy price.

Next door, the two of them were having an intense conversation, while I stood outside, my heart deadened.

“ Leo, even if you don’t cure your wife’s voice so she can’t sing anymore, you didn’t need to ask me for the medicine that harms her uterus!”

“If she doesn’t want a child, you can just not let her get pregnant, but there’s no need to take her uterus out! The damage to her body is immense!”

Leo replied coldly, his tone laced with impatience, “I already promised Cici that my child can only come from her. My wife has already been pregnant a few times, and I secretly made her abort each time!”

“I don’t want to take any more risks. Cici is already a famous singer. If I don’t stay clean, I’ll never be able to stand by Cici’s side. I have to do this! I’ve already spent my life compensating Wendy. That should be enough!”

His colleague hesitated, then said:

“Leo, why do you need the miscarriage medicine? Our lab’s medicine is so expensive! You’ve already used a drug that ruined her uterus, so by all accounts, she shouldn’t be able to get pregnant anymore!”

The voice, cold like the devil’s, now had a hint of amusement.

“Cici is pregnant. She finally got what she wanted. She’s carrying my child, so I have to give her the best treatment! If she wants the stars and the moon, I’ll get them for her!”

“For Cici, I’d be willing to give her everything, even Wendy’s uterus, or even my own life!”

“But since your wife married you, she’s been taking care of everything for you. What if one day she finds out the truth...”

Leo paused, then resolutely said: “Then let her never know! This time, we’ll increase the dosage of the medicine. Even if it causes her uterus to be removed, it’s fine! No one will know, and we’ll be safe!”

“Our lab’s throat medicine must never be released to the market. Don’t let your wife find out!”

“After this is over, I’ll give her everything, money and fame!”

I stood frozen, struggling to process the horrifying information.

I had fallen into despair when the fire destroyed me, but Leo pulled me from darkness into light.

But now, I realized that the light I thought was real was just a deeper, darker abyss.

I hadn’t yet revealed that I was pregnant, but the baby seemed to sense the indifference of its father.

Driven by survival instinct, my stomach began to ache.

I trembled as my fingers gently touched my slightly swollen belly, whispering to myself.

“Baby, mommy will protect you. I promise I’ll protect you!”

Suddenly, the air around me felt thinner, a suffocating heat wrapping around me.

Then it dawned on me—the reason my voice was damaged, my legs burned, and my repeated miscarriages wasn’t just bad luck.

It was Leo ’s scheme. He set the fire. He caused my miscarriages.

All for Cici ’s benefit, so that he could stand by her side.

But Leo , have you forgotten? You swore to me, for life!
