Prologue: Appointment & Errands/Cambrie's Death

Meet E.B

Well, here I am... In my office, treating a new patient: a doodle who has these fleas and ticks nowadays, including itches up his ear. He was Christian, the farmer's doodle. My client is a farmer who works his ass off to keep the farm running, and Christian, well...you can say he's scratching his ears after a long day of fetch and helping his owner because he gets fleas and ticks whenever he helps. Fleas and ticks are normal, am I right? Don't get me wrong. Christian's one of the damndest dogs that I've ever treated alongside other dogs of different breeds, and cats, birds, parrots, sea animals, zoo animals, monkeys, chimpanzees, mandrills, lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, fishes, you name it.

I examined Christian carefully, and ohhh, what did I find? A tick on his back, a lot of dog shit on his ass, and his fur covered in fleas and lice, and a pollen allergy. I said to the farmer, "Well, sir, looks like this big boy needs medicine to treat his allergies at first. Second of all, that tick can easily be removed. However, we will need to wash him to get rid of all those fleas and get the lice out, including poop off his ass because I'm not really sure when it was the last time you gave him a bath."

The farmer said, "We did try to get him his medicine because he was damn well allergic to pollen. My wife didn't even tell me we were running out of his medicine, and I specifically told her not to allow my daughter to share hairbrushes with the neighbor's cause that's how Christian's been getting all that lice on him."

I asked, "Didn't you have a conversation with your wife about it? Or had you asked your daughter to give him a bath?"

Then he said, "No, cause my daughter's too damn busy going out with her no good friends, and I specifically asked her to stop hanging out with those skanky no good gal pals who go to a bar, underage, drinking and having sex. I wanted her to get a good education and help take care of Christian cause of his mobility issues and disabilities, but she disses me, listens to my wife, and just runs off."

I responded, "I understand what that's like. For a dog, he's still strong. I did talk to you about his disabilities last week when we had to amputate his leg because of a very bad injury. Take my advice. Let your daughter see for herself that Christian is still a dog despite his disabilities and no one deserves to be treated this way despite disabilities. She should be lucky to have a best friend like him. His life really matters more than anything, and let your wife see for herself that she is influencing your daughter to be this way. Nobody likes to be with someone who wants their daughter to be a spoiled brat. Now, enough talk about that. Christian, bububs, let's get you all washed up, and let's get that lice out so you're all nice and clean?"

Christian was so excited. The farmer realized my advice and started taking it as me and my team: my veterinary technician and assistant, we worked together to remove the tick from the doodle himself before they held him still enough for me to wash him. He didn't bite me or attack me.

"Good boy, Christian, you're doing so good," I praised him, "Good boy." I continued to wash Christian until he was all clean, and we helped to brush the lice of him with a brush that is good enough to get the lice off and sprayed him with insecticides.

After the treatment, we gave Christian his treat and returned him to his owner, the farmer. The farmer was happy to see Christian was nice and clean, and he gave me a cross necklace in gratitude for getting him cleaned up and for my advice.

"I knew your grandad raised you right, young lady," he told me.

"Well, he did. My parents were always working, so I was raised by him, my uncle, and my grandmother my whole childhood," I responded. "I got a good education and worked extremely hard to get where I am today because they knew me caring for animals and helping them got me to become a veterinarian."

"Ahh, hehehehe, well you tell your grandad I said hello," the farmer said and was on his way home with Christian, whom I bidded goodbye.

Me and my team cleaned up our workspace as it was the end of the day. I grabbed my bag, my water bottle, my keys, my phone, and my laptop. I got into my car and drove to the market for some errands.

I was in the store, grabbing the stuff I needed, and then I ran into my ex-boyfriend, Chance, from high school. There he was. He was still as dumb as ever.

"So happy to see my girl again!" Chance excitedly calls out.

"Chance, I already told you, we're not getting back together." I told him.

"Aww, come on, E.B, don't you miss me, too? I've changed for you, girl. We were so good together!"

"I'm running errands, okay? Cambrie has a birthday party."

"You didn't even come to my birthday party last year. You never responded to me back. I missed you!"

"That's because we're not together anymore, Chance. Now, excuse me."

Chance then stopped me. I was getting very annoyed.

"Hey, come on, E.B, don't be like that. I come all the way to your house every day just to apologize for one little mistake. Whatever we went through together, I love you, and I always will love you, and I know you love me, too. Let's not live in the past anymore. Get back together and move on together."

I rolled my eyes. Chance was still being an asshole as ever. He didn't even change one bit.

"It's never gonna happen no matter what you say or do to try to get me back. I told you this a thousand times, yet you still can't seem to take the hint. Ok, this is why we didn't work out, because you care more about parties and drinking, and when I told you that I didn't feel comfortable with any of this because I would rather focus on our future together, and getting good grades, and going to school, and going to work to help our families with all our debts that we agreed to help pay for, you flipped out at me, drunk, and then you tried to harass me in front of the entire school, although I let you fuck me in the school bathroom after study hall because you wanted to have sex before we were even ready for kids, and I didn't want it. Your selfishness is what caused our relationship to end. Do you not see that?"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that, E.B, but that isn't me anymore. I know I messed up, but you need to let me show you." He then tried to kiss me, but I punched him. He yelled in pain, "Ow! Shit!"

"And you do know I can report you to the sheriff for harassment," I angrily replied. At my boiling point, I was getting very frustrated and overwhelmed with Chance's behavior towards me. "I am not your fucking toy, and I have things to do. Cambrie's got a kid who has a birthday party, and I need to get him his favorite toy. I need to get my grandmother her medicine, and you need to get your ass out of my face, Chance, and leave me alone. I'm not in the mood for your bullshit today."

I went and got what I needed, paid for the stuff, got in my car, and drove home, but what came next when I was driving a couple miles to my house was thrilling and what pisses me off more. Just as I was about to pull up to the farm, where my family's ranch is, there was Chance's truck, smashing into my car. I was furious! I checked on my stuff to see if it's okay, but I saw Chance getting out, not even looking guilty. I went over, marching with fuming anger.

"You smashed my car, asshole!"

"Sorry," Chance said in a remorseless tone. "It's hilarious because I didn't even know that was your car." He then laughed as if he thought it was funny. That fucking asshole.

I walked up to him and intimidated him by grabbing his shirt. "You think that's funny?! I bought this car last year! It was 1500 dollars, Chance! I pay 15 dollars a month for my fucking car insurance!"

Chance then replied, "Welp, honey, that's a you problem now, is it? I should've just cheated on you when I had the chance -"

"You threaten my granddaughter again, and I'ma make you regret it, boy!"

It was my grandfather's fuming voice. My grandfather was a military chief before he retired to become a farmer. What you didn't know about me was I was born in a family of killers and commandos. My parents are contract killers, always working near our local circus, never had any time for me, so my grandparents and my uncle took care of me. I had a very great childhood. My grandfather was the light of my life. He, my uncle, and my grandmother gave me a good life, taught me survival skills, hand-to-hand combat skills, using a gun, and melee weaponry. My uncle was a tutor who has helped me gain a good education. My grandmother taught me how to take care of the farm animals, and I loved it. That was how I became a veterinarian. They never liked Chase. My grandmother said boys like him were nothing but trouble.

Chance tried to sweet talk my grandfather into letting him live, but he wasn't having it. "Please, sir, I didn't mean any harm."

"No, uh uh. My grandbaby doesn't need any more problems from you now, and we're getting her windshield fixed since you nearly scratched her car. Get on out of here before you get me upset. We don't call 911 on my farm!"

Chance rushes off before the situation gets worse. I sighed in complete frustration. "This is why I should've listened to you and Gramma and Uncle Timmy about Chance," I told him.

"Baby, back then, you were blind to see he wasn't no good for you. We didn't want to be too quick to start dating. Guys, like Chance, don't treat you so well. He ignored your concerns, he was possessive over you, and he wasn't the guy to be with."

"I know that, Grandpops. It's like ever since Mom & Dad were always working and didn't care about me, I've had no friends, even though you, Gramma, and Uncle Timmy gave me a happy life, and I thought Chance could support me in my future, but I just realized I didn't even need him," I replied. "You were really the reason I got my life back on track."

"Well, whaddya know, honey bunch, being a veterinarian suits you. You made us so proud. Welp, Cambrie's waiting for ya next door, so why don't you go help her set up before the party?"

I said, "Will do." I gave my grandfather a hug before I went down to Cambrie's house. But there was something suspicious when I entered. What came next was terrifying. I noticed something was off. There was a circus act at our local circus tent tonight. I grabbed a flyer and noticed Cambrie and her son were missing, and all of our friends and her father were missing.

I rushed down to the tent that was 3 blocks away to check it out. I peeked through an open tent to see the circus. There was Cambrie and everyone else who her son invited to his birthday party. Ran by the ringleader, Count Jiggles, and his performers, Trapeez Skeleton, Clown Joker, Clowngelina Ballerina, Clownfield Butcher, Danny The Great, and Major Tiger. I noticed blood trails on my way here and I started to noticed there was something off about the circus. Had my home become a nightmare? Idk. Let's find out.

I walked inside and hid to watch. There was Cambrie, our friends, and their children, and her father, all that were invited to the birthday party at her house. I hated clowns and circuses ever since childhood. I had a terrible fear of clowns. I thought it was some sort of trick? Oh, let me guess. An act?

I looked over, sneaking behind backstage to look into things that could confirm my suspicions. And what did I see? A kill list of people that they lure into the circus. Pictures of people's faces on the board, and what else? Corpses. Dead bodies.

I panicked. I should've never came here. A few minutes later. Just as I was about to leave, I heard screams. It was Cambrie, who witnessed the kids alongside the other parents get tormented by the adult's deaths. There was a corpse of her father who one of the performers killed by stabbing him and ripping his jaw out of his face. Our other friends were killed by each performer, one who was fatally impaled through the head with a pipe, one who was decapitated, and one who was drowned in the pool after shoved off by another performer. Cambrie was hypnotized by Clowngelina Ballerina & Clownfield Butcher before they gutted her to death, and dumped her body in the water.

I watched in terror as I noticed the adults and my friend getting picked off one by one, the kids becoming witnesses and fleeing in terror before they all could even pick them off one by one. I felt so terrible for Cambrie's son, and the other kids, and I was terrified for Cambrie as I watched the two performers kill her in front of me. What the hell did I just walk into? I tried to inform the sheriff, but I assume he was killed too. My gut told me something was off, and it turned out I was right.

I ran home before the two performers, Danny & Major Tiger chased me down the forest. Before I could run to my farm, Danny used his magic to block my path. I was getting attacked by Major Tiger with Danny watching. The ferocious tiger snapped his teeth at me, and was about to eat me alive until I sedated him, and took him to my farm to hide him so I can treat him and figure out why he would attack me. Danny caught up to me and pinned me to the floor.

"Aww, what do we have here? The count would really love to see a prize." Before he could kill me, I grabbed my knife out, stabbed Danny in the eye, and decapitated him with my machete. I dropped the machete, and panicked before I rushed to my farm to where Major Tiger was sleeping in the farmhouse. I took the other animals somewhere safe around the farm, kept a safety door on them, and went in my hammock to try to sleep it off before my grandmother called my name and rushed in.

"What happened, baby?"
