Freshman

High school, finally! I had waited for this moment for years watched as my siblings one by one entered TJ high. Watched as their eyes seemed to glow anew as if being brought back to life. Watched as they gained confidence suddenly sure as never before of who they were. I envied them and waited patiently for my turn. Now on the threshold of this new life I was suddenly terrified, I watched as hundreds of kids streamed out going in every direction and wondered how I would ever find my place in this new world. I was suddenly pulled in as kids pushed by tearing me out of my thoughts. I shook my head forcing myself back to the here and now and made my way to class. I was already targeted as weird being an adopted kid my parents were much older than everybody else's. I didn't have a phone and I wouldn't till after I graduated I didn't watch TV I didn't know any of the new slang or references to social media like everybody else did. I felt lost I only had one class at this school I took my other classes at an Online school. I knew without a doubt that I would face teasing and feared being victimized for my blood line. I knew what these people thought of my siblings and prayed that they would except me. I stepped into class a girl turned saw me and sucked in a breath, "Dianna?" they questioned I blushed and shook my head, "Just her little sister" I muttered. "Ah, I knew something was up with her." a tall aggressive looking junior that I recognized as one of my sisters friends quipped. Suddenly the Chief walked in he was head of this JROTC class he took one look at me and grinned, "Another Mills! This should be fun." I narrowed my eyes annoyed that everyone talked about me like I wasn't there. "I'm Mills" I offered hoping people would stop talking about my unfortunate relation to siblings I loved but didn't approve of. "You don't have a first name." the first girl said furrowing her eyebrows I shook my head then nodded then turning pink I finally said. "I go by Mills." The girl finally said "I'm Rachelle and that's Jake." I nodded and everybody moved on. I sat down grateful that I was no longer the hottest topic in the room. The warning bell rang making Jake and Rachelle rush out of the room for their next class and my class finally filed in. Suddenly I felt arms on my head and heard I man laughing. Confused I turned around to see Sean Dianna's old friend staring at me in shock he turned and walked away. I sighed frustrated I didn't think I look like her at all. class started and it all faded away as Chief and Major went through class norms, rules, and policy's.
