Great Mage Turnip
I used to be all about video games when i was younger, now that I've grown up more, I have only gotten infatuated with one game in particular. Eternal Blood RPG, after a long day at work, it helps me to unwind from having to deal with people yelling at me all day. So I can now just kill Imps and demons, and go back to work, like everything was the same.
I used to play with my friends before we graduated collage, now, two years later, I still play with someone, his game name was The Great Mage Turnip, Mine was Ayesha the great warlock, not as cool I know. He's like a very famous Twitch streamer as well., I'm in his videos, but he doesn't like to film later at night, most of the time (when I get on). Which I get that, what I don't get though is that we've known each other for almost 3 years, but I still don't know anything about this person.
I was shook on my back my my co-worker Annaliese, i was dozing off again.
Annaliese: "Its almost time to go you know Ayesha"
I looked at my watch, then the clock on my laptop screen to assure it was right.
Ayesha: "I guess so"
I stretched before standing up and turning off my laptop and putting it in my bag.
Annalise: "You actually going to join the rest of us for drinks tonight? It is Friday night."
I thought about it, after today I REALLY needed that gaming session, the 10 old people yelling at me how their computers didn't work, but they just didn't turn them on. The awful clients i had to take for my coworkers while they were on break.
Ayesha: "Nah, I'm just going to go home for the night"
Annalise: "Girl, you already do so much for me and these other assholes already, let me treat you to something, please?"
I sighed and thought about it.
Ayesha: "Why don't we just have brunch tomorrow, just us tomorrow, besides, i need the rest."
She nodded, and pat my back.
Annalise: "Alright, its a deal"
She walked out of my office and i turned of my office lights and locked my door before leaving. Of course I wasn't going to tell her about my obsession with a game only grown men and teenage boys play. She was probably the last person who was going to judge me, but I'm still shy about it, and its not like I'm hurting anyone from not telling them.
I walked out to my car in the parking lot, as I looked at my phone, there was a message from my roommate.
KiKi: >>Hey babessss, can i ask a favor?
I sighed, knowing it wasn't going to be a simple favor, but i texted back.
Ayesha: >>sure, what's up? :)
KiKi: >>My boyfriend is coming over, you mind if you don't come back home for, maybe 2-2 1/2 hours plz?
2 to 2 and a half hours??? i mean, I guess i didn't have dinner yet, and I guess it wasn't that big of a problem.
Ayesha:>>Yeah wtv
KiKi:>>Yayyy I owe you one ^.^
I rolled my eyes and got in my car to the nearest convince store.
I sat at the little tables in the back against the window eating my $2 dollar cup-of-noodles, and drinking my $3 chocolate milk. I looked down at my meal and sighed, this was the 3rd time this week I had done this exact thing. I couldn't go out drinking now, i already rejected, and I really didn't want to hangout with any of my coworkers except Annalise. I wiped my mouth before checking my phone, it was the guy I usually play with. I added him just on a general use gaming text website, Discord.
GMT: >= You gonna hop on tonight?
ATW: >= Maybe, had a long day, don't know If i can get to my computer tonight :P
GMT: >= Bummer, hope you can, cuz we gotta fight that Ice dragon on the last level.
ATW: >= Ill see what I can do, but no promises
GMT: >= Cool :]
I threw away my empty cup of noodles as i heard two people talking across the store.
Guy 1: "have you seen that new gaming cafe that opened??"
Guy 2: "what's so different about the one we go to now?"
Guy 1: "this one has its own private cubicles, and you can rent out the whole night! and you can rent the new consoles for a full hour for only $25!"
Guy 2: "Woah seriously?! How come its so cheep?"
Guy 1: "because its new, and new costumers can come in and take control of these prices because its not being advertised yet, only word of mouth"
The two boys bought their stuff and left, it was very convenient how there was this gaming cafe around, but i digress. I looked at my phone again and looked up the location of the cafe.
Soon enough I was in the middle of the most popular side of town, but in the most disconnected area of it. I got my public parking spot in the parking lot, and went over to the cafe. It was underground, which I was a bit skeptical about, but it was under ground, but it had a cozy vibe about it, with its blue and purple LED lights. I went in down the stairs where I was greeted by a nice young woman.
Receptionist: "Hia, what can I do for you today ma'am?"
Ayesha: "Oh, I actually been to one of these before, what should I...?"
Receptionist: "Oh no problem, we have a menu if you would like to browse "
Ayesha: "Oh, really?"
She handed me a little menu, It had a PC lounge, a 2-4 person cubicles, private cubicles, even ones with beds of different sizes. But those costed around $100 an hour, so was the breakfast and lunch servings that were being served at the restaurant above them. I eventually landed on a 3 hour gaming session in the private PC area for $50, which, genuinely was pretty generous.
Receptionist: "Alright, you cubical is number 5-B, and since its your first time playing in this cafe, you get one free drink coupon, if you want more then you can just come to the front desk to get more.
Ayesha: "Well, thank you"
I nodded before walking away, as soon as I left I saw another person at the front desk, assumingly asking for a drink coupon.
As I walked into the gaming area, it was dimly lit, but it had the same LED comfy lights I saw just outside. I looked over to the drinking fountain and grabbed a cup. I got a cup of Pepsi before going over to my little cubical. I closed the curtain for the room and sat down on the surprisingly comfy desk chair. And turned on the computer, it was one of those highly upgraded PC's I always kept seeing online, I was afraid every second I was going to break it. I logged into my account and eventually into my game.
I texted My friend in the chat.
Ayeshathegreatwarlock!: >>You still on?
TheGreatMageTurnip: >> Wow you made it, I wasn't expecting you to.
Ayeshathegreatwarlock!: >>Sorry that took so long, but look! my WIFI is better for once
TheGreatMageTurnip: >> That's True I guess, you ready to ✨venture fourth?
TheGreatMageTurnip: >>✨Of course great mage
I laughed before we went onto the cave where the Ice Dragon was
TheGreatMageTurnip: >> Wait I gotta start my live stream before we start
I put a little thumbs up in chat before taking a sip of my drink while waiting for him. I heard two people outside getting excited about a twitch streamer going live, which didn't surprise me, even if it wasn't him, he was still a very popular streamer none the less.
TheGreatMageTurnip: >> Okay you ready?
Ayeshathegreatwarlock!: >> YEAH!
We played like pretty much champs, We casted a bunch of spells and scrolls we've been saving just for this. Using armor, and mele attacking it a bunch. it only took us about 30 minutes to beat the dragon, since this pc wasn't burning up and crashing on me.
TheGreatMageTurnip: >> Holy hell, that was awesome! We got a bunch of loot, lemme turn off my stream.
I waited for a minute, sipping my Pepsi and eating my apple slices from my purse that I didn't finish from lunch.
TheGreatMageTurnip: >> I meant to ask how were you able to actually finish the game without crashing your PC?
Ayeshathegreatwarlock!: >> Funny story actually, I'm at a cafe since I couldn't go back to my place
A second later, a notification went up on my phone, it was Discord
GMT: >= wait, are you at a gaming cafe?
ATW: >= Yes? My roommate Kicked me out of the apartment.
GMT: >= Is It the Gaming Cafe downtown Rosemary city??
ATW: >= Uh, yes??
GMT: >= Wait, what's your cubical number because I think I'm also there
I thought about it really hard, on the one hand, this guy could be an insane creep that finally has a chance to pounce. On the other hand, I've known this guy for almost 3 years... Since were in a public cafe, and at anytime I can scream for help, I figured, I guess what's the harm in meting my online friend?
ATW: >= Uh, 5-B?
He stopped texting, and then i silently feared for the worst, why did I do that?? How far away was he from me?? WHAT NOW?
My panicking faltered a little bit as the curtain to my cubical got tugged open. I turned around, fully expecting some weirdo guy who was sweaty and greasy.
To my utter shock, I saw a little 5'2 girl, with a tired expression, dressed in a full alt, black and dark red outfit. She looked down at me sitting, with her full tired and done expression, and smiled a bit.
GMT?: "Huh, I guess we finally got to meet."
Ayesha: "Uh... yeah I uhm, guess so."
GMT?: "Oh, right. I don't usually like playing in game as a girl because I get hit on by weirdos. I honesty thought you were one."
Ayesha: "Uh, right back at you..."
GMT?: "What? Do I have something in my teeth?"
She said putting on a forced teethy expression showing her teeth, which were surprisingly sharp.
Ayesha: "Sorry, sorry, still a bit surprised, but.. Uh, I never got your name, it feels a bit weird now to just call you The great mage Turnip..."
I chuckled awkwardly, i was so awkward, even around her, I honestly just thought she was so cool.
GMT?: "right, my name is Devan, But I never really go by that, so you can just call me Roxie... Its my middle name and its what my friends call me"
I nodded tucking a hair behind my ear.
Ayesha: "Well, I'm uh... Ayesha, well that's kind of obvious because its on my character, I'm not a creep i promise, I'm 25"
Roxie: "Its okay I'm 27"
She's 2 years older than me??
