Ch 1- Studying humans

It’s honestly crazy how humans discriminate each other using petty excuses like gender, nationality, etc. If only they knew our definition of difference…

We exist on the same Earth but they are just so oblivious about us. Like for sure you would notice if your neighbour casually sniffs people... right?

Or when they are suspiciously good at growling at annoying people and know way too much about lunar phases for no reason and awkwardly disappear every full moon and own no silver jewellery at all?

Or if they shop for SPF 10,000 sunscreen (and still avoid daylight)?

We (Were wolfs, vampires, basilisks, demons, angels, mermaids, sirens, fairies, witches, elves, Phoenixes, etc.) are not like how humans think we are. (The only thing they got right are the names)

We don’t live forever.

We fall sick too.

We get hurt too.

We age too.

We die too.

Y’all find those tales cool but when it comes to real life, we know better than to assume that anyone would accept us.

It gets hard to cover up our traits all the time so, until a supernatural is an adult, he/ she shall study only in schools and collages run by supernaturals where only supernaturals attend. Any human who wants an admission is denied.

(So if you’ve got straight A's but are a human and a school or collage denies you entry don’t feel bad about it and lose hopes. Its probably for the best so that you’re not surrounded by bloodthirsty peeps.)

We actually studied their behaviour and stuff ever since we were born so that we can fit in and not be noticed.

Here is a summary of my study on Humans:

Homo Sapiens: 99% DNA, 1% Common Sense

They spend a third of their lives sleeping (but still complain about being tired), they keep losing their keys, forget why they walked into a room, and argue passionately over whether pineapple belongs on pizza (this one could end friendships lmao). They invented alarm clocks, then invented the snooze button because they instantly regretted it.

Despite this, they are surprisingly lovable, mostly hilarious, and capable of creating moments that are… complete, utter nonsense.

I have 4 things to say right now-

One: If you're born human you should consider yourself lucky. We super naturals are just like you but with abnormalities that the human society is bound to turn against. So we hide our real selves.

Two: If you're born a normal supernatural, you should consider yourself lucky. Hybrids (mixes of 2 breeds of supernaturals) are people looked down upon by the hidden society because though they are supernaturals, they are too weak to use their powers profoundly. They are scarce in number.

Three: If you are a hybrid supernatural, you should consider yourself lucky. The forbidden (mixes of 3 breeds of supernaturals) are those who are to be executed upon birth. Those who escape that fate hide themselves as a hybrid. They are known to be 'hidden amongst the hidden'. They are very rare.

Four: If you are a forbidden, you should consider yourself lucky. Me (a mix of five freaking breeds) don't even know what to call myself. Unlike hybrids or forbiddens all 5 of my sides are powerful.

I am not rare or scarce.

I'm dangerous, maybe not to the world, but to myself.

Its not possible for anything to be more twisted than a forbidden... that is exactly what all the history books of the hidden society read.

Yet here I stand.

Isla Celeste Silvermist.
