El Fragmento Olvidado



Elian abrió los ojos bruscamente. Un destello de luz azul cruzó su visión, como si una chispa eléctrica hubiera estallado dentro de su mente. Jadeó, confuso. Sus pulmones parecían más pesados de lo normal, y un leve zumbido resonaba en sus oídos.


La habitación estaba en penumbra, iluminada solo por el resplandor tenue de las luces de la ciudad que entraban por la ventana. Las torres de cristal del distrito central se alzaban majestuosas en el horizonte, reflejando el cielo nocturno en mil colores artificiales. Todo parecía igual… y sin embargo, no lo era.


Elian se sentó en la cama, se llevó una mano a la frente y cerró los ojos. Una imagen difusa latía dentro de su mente: un rostro desconocido, una voz que le susurraba algo en un idioma que no recordaba haber aprendido. Luego, un sonido agudo, como el de un cristal quebrándose. Y nada más.


—¿Otra vez esa pesadilla? —murmuró, intentando convencerse de que no era real.


Pero lo era. Cada noche, la misma visión. Cada noche, el mismo rostro. No era un sueño. Era un recuerdo… uno que no sabía de dónde venía.


Se levantó lentamente y caminó hacia el espejo. Su reflejo lo miró con la misma expresión de siempre: cabello oscuro, rizado, ojos profundos y algo cansados, y una delgada cicatriz que cruzaba su ceja izquierda. Esa cicatriz tampoco sabía cómo la había conseguido. Otro misterio más.


Desde que cumplió dieciocho años, los fragmentos de memoria comenzaron a aparecer. Como archivos dañados en un sistema viejo. Como si alguien hubiera metido recuerdos que no le pertenecían.


Afuera, la ciudad zumbaba con drones de patrullaje, anuncios flotantes y luces de neón. Eran tiempos de paz, decían las noticias. Pero para Elian, el mundo parecía cada vez más inestable. Más... falso.


Caminó hasta su escritorio y encendió su consola. El sistema reconoció su retina y abrió su panel de memoria digital. En esta era, cada ciudadano tenía un “Banco de Recuerdos” integrado en su red neuronal. Un archivo mental donde se almacenaban memorias clave, accesibles con un simple parpadeo.


Elian navegó hasta su historial. Todo parecía normal. Cumpleaños, clases, primeros amigos, caminatas con su madre. Pero había algo más… Un archivo sin nombre, oculto, encriptado.


—¿Qué eres tú? —susurró.


Intentó abrirlo. El sistema pidió una clave. Elian no tenía ninguna.


De pronto, su consola se apagó sola. Un mensaje apareció en la pantalla antes del apagado:


“No estás solo. Tu mente recuerda lo que el mundo olvidó.”


Elian retrocedió, asustado. ¿Quién le había enviado eso? ¿Cómo sabían lo que él estaba experimentando?


El viento sopló desde la ventana entreabierta. Una hoja de papel cayó al suelo. Él se agachó y la recogió. Era parte de un cuaderno viejo que ni recordaba tener. Dibujado a mano, un símbolo: un ojo dentro de un cristal.


Debajo, una palabra escrita en tinta negra:


“Recuerda.”
