Chapter 1
I saw the person. I don’t care about love, but marriage is out of the question.
The reason she’s getting close to you, you and I both know it.
Through the slightly open door of the private room,
Ethan was standing there, dressed in a sharp suit with a cold expression. Ethan is my boyfriend Owen’s uncle.
Owen was still trying to explain,
“Victoria doesn’t seem like the kind of girl who’s after vanity.”
“Doesn’t seem like? She’s just a small-time model. Her looks are her biggest stepping stone.”
“Doesn’t she tell you why she’s with you?”
Owen was quiet for two seconds, then said, “I know. I’m just playing around with her.”
“That’s good. Don’t bring girls like her in front of me in the future. It’s just a waste of my time.”
I didn’t listen to the rest. I put my hands in my pockets and wandered around outside again.
When I went back into the private room, Ethan was already gone.
Owen was sitting there with his legs crossed, looking down at his phone.
He saw me come in and explained, “Ethan had another meeting, so he left early.”
I nodded to show I understood, and he got up and took my hand.
“Ethan thinks very highly of you. He was just praising you for being beautiful when he left.”
“I told you, any woman I like would be beautiful, right?”
I gave a half-hearted smile.
“Is that so? If Ethan likes it, that’s good.”
Owen didn’t notice anything was off with me.
After we left the restaurant, he asked, “Where to next? Come to my place?” His tone was full of flirtation.
I declined, “I have a shoot tonight.”
“Then I’ll pick you up?”
“Forget it. It’ll probably end late.”
A flash of disappointment crossed Owen’s face, and then he teased,
“My girlfriend is really hard to get a hold of these days.
“Alright, I guess I’ll be alone in the house again tonight.”
I casually patted his head, not taking it seriously.
