A pleasant beginning that leads to a very dark ending
"The story is only three chapters long but it builds up the tension perfectly as two siblings explore their weird old uncle's house. You know something is off right from the start but like all good horror tales it feels normal until everything gets very twisted and dark real fast. A quick and entertaining read and highly recommended to anyone looking for a well crafted tale of terror."
A Tasty Tale That Will Leave Your Stomach In Knots
"Mothballs & Wine is a short little tale that is reminiscent of the TV series Tales From The Crypt. I enjoyed the writing with dialog that was witty and funny. The author, StrangaStrigo, uses his unique gift to quickly grab your attention within the first paragraph. His style is unmistakably good and always a pleasure to read. A quick story that was very enjoyable and fun! "
Good Read
"Id like to start off by mentioning the punctuation and grammar. This aspect of the book is severely lacking, which does make sentence flow a bit choppy. There are several sentences that should have commas, and have no punctuation at all. There are a lot of details, and at the same time, no details at all. Many aspects are described in detail, while there are some things that aren't described in any detail at all. This felt like a slight hit or miss for me. The concept of the story was really good, especially the plot twist. However, the characters felt a bit one dimensional, so the twist didn't land as hard as I believe the author wanted it to. It left more questions of "why is he acting like that? What exactly drove him to have this mindset now?" The lack of character depth made the plot twist feel slightly out of place. I feel like, if the character's mindsets, emotions, etc. had been explored on a more personal level, then the author could have written in detail and shown how David's mindset has changed and altered over the course of the story as he read his uncle's journal. In the end, its was a good story. It had some classic horror story aspects that made me feel like I was back in my childhood, reading the goosebumps books. "
