Chapter 1 THE SECOND BORN (JADE)
Life has been hard lately, and everyone has been acting distant. Mom and Dad haven't been home for the past six months they communicate with us once a week, and none of us really knows where they are.
Everything changed after the death of our second born, Jade. one early morning this past May, he was sent to the market-but he never came back. he disappeared for three days. When they finally found him, he was in a well that hadn't been used for decades
The people who discovered his body said he might have fallen, but something did not add up.one of his shoes was missing ,and he looked like he had been beaten before being dumped inside the well.
Since Jade's death, a heavy silence has settled over over our home, my elder sister, Grace, tries to act strong, but i see the fear in her eyes. she clutches Jade's old sweater like it a shield. Our younger brother. Timmy does not understand much- and still asked when is jade coming back. No one has the heart to tell him the truth.
The police didn't help much. They said it was likely an accident, but we all know better .Jade was careful, strong, and smart. He wouldn't just fall. Not like that. Not in a place where nobody goes near.
And now, with Mom and Dad gone.it feels like we are alone in this world. Grace says we have to keep going but deep down. We both know something is wrong. Something bigger is happening and I'm starting to think Jade's death was just the beginning.
