Chapter 1

Jeff and Bundy arrived at the old and abandoned hospital for their last spot of their date. Heading down the filthy and web filled hall way, Jeff asked Bundy not to judge him for the secret he’s going to reveal to him. Bundy takes Jeff hand to reassure him that whatever he has to show him, Bundy will stay by him. Blushing for that experience, they reached a worn-out wooden door. Jeff shaking, took his keys out of his pocket, fumbling it in his hand, trying to put it in the key hole. While unlocking the door, Jeff grew more nervous and excited to show Bundy his secret. The sound of the door unlocking echoed through out the entire hall way. Frozen in place, Jeff tried to calm himself down by slowly breathing, telling himself it was going to be okay. Bundy went close to his ear to whisper something. With his heart pounding, Jeff listened closely with excitement, hoping Bundy can say something to reassure him that everything is going to be okay.

“I know what you did.”

Bundy whispered in Jeff ear. Tensed and confused, Jeff turned to face Bundy, but before he could say a word, Bundy punched him into the unlocked door, causing him to fall on the floor of the broken and destroyed morgue of the old and abandoned hospital. Revealing the secret Jeff was going to show Bundy. The room was filled with the missing eyeballs of the dead bodies appearing all over Australia.

“Michael Phipps.”

Bundy said as he kicked in the stomach Jeff while on the ground.

“Kikoya Lin, Wendall Burlees, Nate Kimer”.

Each name being followed by a vicious kick to Jeff chest. After the kicks, Jeff lay on the floor, wailing in pain. As Bundy stared at Jeff, he calmly told him.

“I already know you took a lot of lives Jeff. Not just any lives too. They were Doctors, Teachers, Farmers and so much more. And you took their lives to satisfy your ego and selfishness. That simply cannot be overlooked.”

Before Bundy could say another word, Jeff jumped up and tried to attack Bundy. Jeff tried to land a punch on Bundy, but Bundy dodge the punch by ducking down and knocking his legs off the ground. Before Jeff could hit the floor, Bundy brutally kicked his chest, sending him into a deep hole in the ground. When he landed, he broke his arm and bruised his leg. Grunting and panicking, Jeff managed to get on his leg and attempted to escape. This was hard for him since the hole was too deep in the ground for him to jump up and reach with one leg. Confused and in pain, Jeff screamed out.

“How did you know it was me before I opened the door?”

Bundy responded unemotionally.

“Simple. I was following and investigating you before we met.”

Completely bewildered, Jeff tried to look back at all the times he remembered seeing Bundy, but he was unable too. Bundy further said.

“I always kept my distance until we met. And somehow that was enough for me to learn your patterns. Every food you eat, every street corner you walk on, every purchase you made.”

Frightened by this, Jeff went quiet and started looking at his arm and leg. Knowing that he had no way to escape, he decided to sit down on the ground silently for a minute. And then slowly, he started chuckling to himself. Then he started laughing hysterically.

“So, this is how I get caught. By a stacker. I’m going to have a fun story to tell while locked up.”

Jeff said while trying to contain his laughter. Bundy hears this and tries to tell him the truth.

“Locked up? I’m not sending you to Prison. I’m going to kill you.”

The room went silent after what Bundy said. Jeff was confused again. He looked and asked.

“What? You’re going to kill me? You detectives still need to leave this in the hands of the police you work with, right?”

Bundy coldly responded.

“I never said I was with the Police.”

“Oh, you’re doing this for a loved one I took from you, right?”

Jeff said. Bundy responded.

“No. I have no moral or emotional reason for killing you. I just think the world would function better with people like you dead. I have no faith in the legal system at all, so it only makes sense to take people like you out.”

“How are you any better than me if we’re both doing a murder?”

Jeff said being befuddled at the explanation Bundy had given.

“I hear that question all the time when I capture murderers like yourself. Sadly, I can never give an answer that satisfies them. You take life away for selfish reasons like betrayal, trauma or for fun. Causing someone to be without a doctor or a teacher or even someone who gives emotional support to others. I don’t care about murders honestly, but your actions have a long-lasting effect on everyone, including you and me.”

Jeff was left stunned at what he heard and just sat there in awe. Bundy, in the meantime, was loading his gun to kill Jeff with. After a few minutes, Bundy pointed the gun at Jeff and asked.

“Do you know the story of the yellow cat and the black mice?”

“Huh? Yeah. A dumb children story about a mouse that captured a cat and killed him. Why?”

Jeff angrily responded.

“Because I was in your class when that story was told.”

Bundy said.

“I was in your class in Malaysia when we were kids, and I remember you being so angry at the ending when it was being told. Frustrated that a mouse could outsmart a cat feeling like the cat deserve to kill the mouse because the cat had the power to do so. You and I were the only ones in the class invested in the story but came to different conclusions on how the story should end. I thought it only made sense for the mouse to kill the cat since the story said the black mouse was smart enough to outwit the cat and any other ending would upset me at the time.”

“Why are you telling me all this?”

Jeff said. Bundy replied

“Because I’m curious and want to ask you. Are you still upset with the ending?”

Jeff started snickering to himself and then said.

“Yes. That ending is still terrible. I hope I never hear about it again.”

Bundy then aimed the gun at Jeff head and spoke.

“You won’t.”

Jeff screamed at Bundy.

“Wait! Before I die. Can I stare into your eyes one last time?”

Bundy thoughted about the question before answering.

“Fine.”

As the night sky is filled with grey clouds, the two men stared at each other to sound of thunder and rain.
