Summary

Silence crept in, a ghostly guest Filling the space where love once nest A heavy shroud that wrapped her tight A haunting presence, day and night In empty halls, her footsteps fell Echoes of memories, a distant bell She waited, waited, waited in vain For footsteps that never came again The floor, a canvas, dark and wide Swallowed her hopes, her heart's inside In the end, she was just a sigh Lost in the silence, forever dry.

Chapter 1

As Ivy lounged on the couch, she watched Sana's interview on TV with a mixture of disinterest and disdain. Sana's words dripped with saccharine sweetness: "Love! Well, I want a perfect and sweet love. I'll love him forever..."

The interviewer cooed, "Awww... I hope you'll meet your lover one day."

Ivy let out a dismissive sigh. "Ugh, the obsession with love. It's not true. Love is just attraction and a small play of hormones."

Suri, sitting beside her, nudged her playfully. "Ivy, come on! You're such a bookworm. Can't you just let me enjoy the romance? Think of a handsome man and a sweet kiss."

Ivy rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "You and your delulu fantasies, Suri. For me, it's simple: no love, just money."

Suri threw up her hands. "Urgh, for goodness' sake, Ivy! When will you fall in love? You're just a hopeless single."

Ivy smirked, "I'll stick to my goals, thanks. Love can wait."

Ivy rolled her eyes good-naturedly, "I'm just keeping it real, Suri. Love is overrated. Give me a stable career and a fat bank account any day."

Suri playfully threw a pillow at Ivy, "You're just a cynic, Ivy! You're going to wake up one day and realize that love is the real treasure."

Ivy caught the pillow and smirked, "I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, I'll stick to my books and my savings plan."

As they bantered back and forth, Ivy's eyes drifted back to the TV screen, where Sana was still gushing about love. Ivy raised an eyebrow, "I mean, come on. She's a famous idol, and she's still buying into the fairy tale romance trope."

Suri chuckled, "You're just jealous because you're not getting any romantic attention, Ivy!"

Ivy shot back, "I'm not jealous, I'm just practical. And besides, I have better things to do than waste my time on some fleeting romance."

Suri turned to Ivy with a mischievous grin. "Hey, Ivy, have you heard about the new student joining our college? Apparently, he's drop-dead gorgeous. Maybe you'll finally consider going on a date, hmm?"

Ivy raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "A date? With him? Don't make me laugh, Suri. I'm not interested."

Suri chuckled. "Oh, come on, Ivy! You can't stay single forever. Maybe this new guy will be the one to change your mind."

Ivy shook her head. "I doubt it. I'm good just the way I am, thanks."

Suri asked, curiously, "Don't you have a type in men? You know, someone you're attracted to?"

Ivy replied, matter-of-factly, "No, I don't really think about it. I'm good with whatever my parents decide for my marriage. Love isn't a priority for me."

Suri raised an eyebrow, "Really? You wouldn't want to choose for yourself?"

Ivy shrugged, "No, I trust my parents' judgment. They'll find someone suitable for me."

Suri playfully rolled her eyes. "Ugh, you're so boring sometimes! What did I even see in you to become friends with, bro?"

Ivy smirked, "Probably my answer sheet, which you always 'borrowed' to cheat off of and got good marks."

Suri laughed. "Hey, that's not fair! I would've studied anyway... okay, maybe not. But you're still stuck with me, friend!"

NEXT MORNING

Ivy stretched, yawning, and greeted the morning with a cheerful "Good morning everyone..."

Suri, already up and about, shot back with a grin, "Woke up, you lazy bastard."

Ivy rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "Oh, excuse me. Who will sleep peacefully beside a fool who always throws their legs and arms all over me?"

Suri giggled. "Awww... I saw a dream of my Prince Charming."

Ivy's expression turned exasperated. "Shut up, Suri. It's not funny, okay? And so childish."

Suri's grin only widened, and she teased, "Oh, come on, Ivy! You're not still grumpy in the morning, are you?"

Ivy shook her head, a small smile creeping onto her face despite her efforts to maintain a stern expression. "You're impossible, Suri."
