Chapter 1 - Dino Nuggets
Sonya
I stuffed my towel into my beach bag, turning to search through my closet for my favourite blue bikini, slipping it on. The sound of the shower running in the background and low humming from Ruben was a wonderful way to start the day. I was bouncing with excitement. It was meant to be a beautiful thirty degrees Celsius, and I couldn’t wait to feel the sun on my skin. It would also be the first time in two months that the whole group could get together. No one told me that when I got to my thirties group hang outs would be a nightmare to plan because work would consume most of my time. I was lucky, though I had a good mix of friends, some from my university days and some from as far back as high school.
I headed into our small ensuite, passed the fogged-up glass of the shower, the silhouette of Ruben, a tempting call to sneak inside with him. Water conservation was very important, after all. I brushed that thought aside, knowing if I followed through it wouldn’t just be water conservation, it would be having to remake the bed I just made. I quickly headed for the basin, opening the set of draws on the dark wooden countertop. I grabbed a hair tie and brush from the clear drawers and pulled my brown hair back into a bun, leaving a few pieces on the sides to frame my round face. I removed the star shaped piercing from my nose, not wanting to lose it in the waves. Bright hazel eyes looked back at me from the large oval mirror. My face looked fuller than it had been in a while, and the bags that usually took up residence under my eyes had disappeared. My skin, while pale, was clearer. I looked alive again, and I was starting to feel it.
Ruben had been right to push me to leave that job and change schools. No more early mornings without pay, so I could listen to Bob tact on more programs than myself and the other teachers could handle. No more overtime for a principal who kept taking on more students than our school could fit just for government grants. The kids were suffering, but Bob wouldn’t bring on more teachers or aids. By the end of the term, I was burnt out, and I had spiralled into a depression.
I was getting better now and I promised myself I was going to enjoy the school holidays and then start at the new school at my best. I reached under the counter, opening the white doors. I glanced through the shelves, digging in the back for the sunscreen. I couldn’t wait to see everyone again. I could almost see it now. The big picnic blanket surrounded by our beach towels. Kathy ripping into her sister Anna for forgetting something. The sound of waves and the songs coming from Darren’s speaker. I missed the banter between the three of us. When he moved to Melbourne, it broke Ruben’s heart, but now he was back and settling here in Perth permanently. I could remember the last time we were all together, playing card games. I sat between them and watched them roast each other the way only people who knew each other their whole lives could. My brain went fuzzy, remembering how warm it felt snuggled between them. For a moment, I could smell the leather of Darren’s motorcycle jacket mix with the spice in Ruben’s cologne.
I shook that thought off as I snatched up the sunscreen, having to stop myself from shutting the cupboard too hard. It’s just an intrusive thought. I turned back into the bedroom, taking a deep breath, pulling in the faint smell of coffee and vanilla. The pale blue wall opposite the ensuite was covered in pictures of our friends and family greeted me. The window to our balcony on the far wall, let in the glowing orange and red light of the rising sun. To my left, covered in navy floral sheets, sat our bed paralleled by two round white bedside tables.
I was a lucky girl. My Ruben was the sweetest man alive. A man that did small things, like leaving love notes in my lunch box when I headed into work. Most of them reminded me that he loved me and not to throw my planner at Bob’s head. And when I needed big things, he was there too. When I got stranded with my car one month into our relationship and I didn’t know who else to call. He came to my rescue toolbox in hand, wearing nothing but work pants, a tank top, and a cowboy hat. I still had no idea where he got the hat that now sat perched on the corner of the forest green armchair opposite our bed.
The way he sauntered up, that cheeky grin on his face, tipping that hat at me. “G’day gorgeous, heard you needed a service, and I am always here to serve.” It had been cheesy and corny, but it made all my anxiety evaporate. I bit my lip at the memory. That car was stranded for another forty-five minutes before we even got started on fixing it.
I sat on the bed, reaching over the bedside table, tilting the small mirror to focus on my face. The digital clock read six thirty am. It was early to be up early, but I was too excited to sleep. I squeezed a bit of sunscreen into my hand and slowly applied it to my face.
Deciding my back was next on the task list, I stretched, trying to get the sunscreen between my shoulder blades. I sighed as an arm wrapped around my waist. It pulled me back into a warm firm chest, the scent of coffee, vanilla, and spice, making me curl into him. Ruben placed a soft kiss on my temple, kneeling on the bed behind me. “Baby, why are you being cruel this morning?” He whispered against my neck with his deep voice, sending a shiver through me.
“And what did I do that is cruel?” I said, glancing over my shoulder, raising an eyebrow. His blue eyes sparkled with mischief, and a lopsided smirk brought out the dimple in his left cheek. His other hand ran up and down my spine, teasing at the tie of my bikini. He tipped my head back his damp brown hair falling into his eyes as his plush lips stole a kiss from mine. I moaned as his tongue ran along my bottom lip, his piercing teasing my tongue when I opened for him.
“Sonya, you stole my job.” He whispered against my lips before kissing the tip of my nose. He grabbed the sunscreen from the bedside table, moving to stand next to me. He wore grey swim shorts and nothing else, his brown skin gleaming with droplets of water missed when he dried off. He had been hitting the gym lately, and wow, was it difficult not to drool and to keep my hands to myself. It was criminal how low those shorts hung when they weren’t tied, the v shape of his newly gained abs on full display. “So, where have you done already, baby girl?”
“Just my face so far.” As he squirted dollop of the cream into his palm, pulling the tie of my top loose around my waist and then my neck, leaving it to fall into my lap.
“Perfect then you haven’t completely done my job.” He rubbed his hands together, the cream giving his brown skin a slight shine. He stood beside me, pulling my right hand to his lips, kissing along my knuckles, before placing my open palm against his sharp jaw. My heart melted when he kissed the centre of it, his eyes holding mine. He slowly rubbed the cream into my hand, kissing his way up my arm, his other hand following behind it, massaging the cream into my skin.
He moved over to the other arm, repeating the teasing kisses and massages, a moan slipping from my lips. He stopped for a moment, adding more cream to his hands before rubbing into my arms until he got to my shoulders. His lips took mine deeply, his tongue dancing with mine. I pushed up, wrapping my arms around his neck, biting his bottom lip.
He chuckled, breaking our kiss, his heated stare pinning me in place. Fuck, I knew that look. The cheeky man took those lips for a stroll across my jaw, down my neck, nipping right over my pulse point.
“Ruben-“
“Shh baby I got to really focus on this next section, can’t have my girl burning because I didn’t get every spot on you.” He slipped behind me, his fingers beginning to work their magic rubbing the cream in taking the knots out of my neck with each soothing circle.
“We have to leave by…” A moan left me as he kissed along my throat, nipping over my pulse again as he knelt behind me. “Eight.”
“All I am hearing baby girl is that I have you all to myself for an hour and a half.” He grabbed my chin tilting my head until I leaned against his pecs. He claimed my lips, his tongue fighting mine into submission. I try to turn to straddle his lap but was firmly held in place. “I said hold still, let me finish your back and then we can start on your front.”
I pouted up at him. “We can’t be late.” I pushed my arse back until his thighs parted and I nestled myself between them, his hard cock pressing against my spine.
“And we won’t be.” His hands continued rubbing in the cream working his way down to my hips before squeezing them. He pulled them hard against him, grinding against my ass. His thumbs kneaded my love handles, before sliding his hands under the strings of my bottoms. I reached back, sliding my fingers through his hair, tugging him closer, swallowing his hiss as we kissed. Ruben’s hands splayed over my thighs, his nails raking up them when I bit his lip.
The shrill ring of his phone stopped us, just as his fingers were tracing the curve between my thigh and pelvis. A groan escaped me, my head falling back into the crook of his neck as he reached for the phone on his nightstand. Darren’s name lit up the screen and I felt Ruben smirk against my neck. “You’re gonna be really quiet for me, now.”
“No-“ My words died as he answered the phone, hitting the speaker button. His fingers wondered along the hem of my bottoms. I was going to kill him.
“Hey man, you guys up yet?” Darren’s deep voice carried through the phone as Ruben’s right hand slipped under the fabric. Ruben’s fingers dipped, sliding through the folds of my pussy, tracing my wetness back to my clit.
“Oh yeah man we are ready to get wet,” He circled my clit adding pressure when the word wet left his mouth, “ and wild. Are you going to head over here first before we hit up the maccas or are you meeting us there?”
My hips rocked when one of his fingers slid inside me, his thumbs stroking over my clit with teasing slowness that made me want to climb the walls. I bit down hard on my lips to hold in a moan. “I am headed to yours first. I should be there in about twenty minutes. Will you guys be ready by then?”
Ruben’s slipped another finger inside my pussy, stretching me. With each new stroke he scissored them, my pussy squeezing hard around them, while I held back the want to beg for more. I fought to keep myself quiet, while Ruben chuckled. I didn’t want Darren to hear me, but the idea that he might was making my skin hot. “Yeah, Sonya should be coming, out of the shower soon.”
He smirked down at me, winking at the innuendo. My thighs trembled as he sped up. If his fingers weren’t currently making my toes curl and making me want to scream his name, I would’ve elbowed him. I fought not to pant, my pussy clenching harder as my heart pounded. Ruben nipped along my shoulder, his fingers pulsing in and out of me, his thumb circling my clit faster. My pleasure climbing higher and higher, until it felt hard to breathe. “Perfect, I will see you and sunshine soon.” Sunshine. Darren’s bike starting covered the muffled cry as I came, pure bliss racing through my body.
Oh god no! Please tell me he didn’t hear that. There was a beat of silence where I wanted to melt into the bed. The bike revved. “Okay I am headed off. You two better be ready when I get there.”
The call ended and Ruben claimed my mouth with a punishing kiss. “Baby girl, you were doing so well until the end. You’re lucky that Darren started his bike, or he would’ve gotten to hear your pretty little cry.” I whined as he pulled away from me, my body wanting more of him. “Aww baby, don’t worry we will pick this up again tonight. You heard him, he will be here soon. So, turn around and let me finish rubbing you in.”
Fifteen minutes later, five of which I spent trying to jump him, we were packed. I checked that all the snacks and drinks were packed, before zipping the cooler bag closed.
The rumble of Darren’s bike pulling into the car park outside the apartment made my legs wobble. I couldn’t help Imagining what might have happened if that bike didn’t start when I cried out. What that deep voice might have said through the phone. Wow, what the fuck is wrong with me. That is Ruben’s best friend, and he is my friend too. You are just horny because Ruben got you all riled up.
I kicked those thoughts right to the back of my head, walking from our cute pastel kitchen to grab my glasses from the wooden coffee table in the lounge. Ruben’s three dino nugget pillows sat on the leather couch. The poor nuggets were positioned so that two of them were getting busy and the other was watching. I tried not to laugh at the little scene he had set up.
Ruben slipped by pressing a kiss to the top of my head, he had gained a black band shirt from one of the first concerts we went to when we started dating.
“See something you like?” He laughed raising an eyebrow at the dino nuggets, before his shifted the watching dino into the mix. “Nah I think you would like this better.”
It wasn’t the first time he made a joke like this, but it felt very different given what just happened. I pushed the feeling away, smiling at the silliness, shrugging. “I think we will leave that to the dinos.”
“Okay. Come on baby girl, time for some coffee and fun in the sun.” He jogged passed me grabbing the cooler bag off the tiled counter of our kitchen, throwing me a wink. I raced after him to the door as the bike’s engine cut out.
I grabbed my sandals for the rack by the door, running out and locking it behind me. My sandals slapped against the concrete as I headed down the stairs to the parking lot. The sky was turning blueish now with the rising sun and the chill lifted from the air. Darren and Ruben stood at the bottom of the stairs by Darren’s bike, chatting.
Darren was taller than Ruben but more athletically built. Ruben had always been bulkier, which made for great movie night cuddles and he could really throw me around when we wanted to get rough. Darren ruffled his blonde hair with his large tattooed hand, laughing at Ruben’s joke. Their laughter mingled into a luring serenade that made my heart feel light.
When I reached the bottom of the stairs, both turned to face me. I expected a little tension if Darren had heard the fun we had, but his warm smile touched his brown eyes like always. Everything was fine. Darren was attractive to say the least. Gorgeous olive skin, a square jaw covered in light stubble and a smile that could break hearts. The leather jacket making his broad shoulders look broader and the black jeans he wore clinging to his muscular thighs. Sonya no. Bad thoughts. Today is about going to the beach, catching up and having fun. Not ogling Ruben’s best friend.
“Morning sunshine, you choose my sunflowers today I see.” He said as he looked me up and down. I stared down at the sunflower cover crotched maxi dress. He had given me for my last birthday. It was one of my favourites and the perfect cover up for my bikini.
“You have good taste man. You always know what will make our girl shine.” Ruden said, lazily wrapping an arm around my waist, placing a kiss on the top of my head.
“It isn’t hard when she looks cute in just about everything.” My face was on fire at the compliments. Why did they have to play off each other like this?
“Okay, man enough teasing her. You ready to go baby girl?” They both stared at me with the softest expressions I couldn’t process with my post climax addled brain.
“Yeah, I am ready.” It came out far breathier than I wanted it to. They both smiled, Darren winking before slipping on his slick helmet and hopping on his Panorama GT, starting the engine. Ruben entwined his fingers with mine as he led me to his Holden Commodore. It’s time to head to the beach and forget that phone call.
