Prologue
He pinned me against my locker, the empty hallways echoing with the sound. His eyes, normally a deep shade, seemed to darken, and for a moment, I could've sworn I saw flecks of red and golden yellow dancing in their depths. But that was impossible – eyes don't change color like that. It must have been the fear creeping in, making me see things that weren't there. His grip on my arms tightened, his hands wrapping around me like a shield. My legs were trapped between his, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. The mischievous grin spreading across his face made my heart skip a beat. It was as if he was enjoying this, and I didn't like it one bit. His symmetrical features seemed to take my breath away, but I refused to be intimidated.
"So, it's you," he said, his voice low and husky, the grin growing wider in the most mocking way. I struggled against his hold, but he didn't budge. "What do you mean? Let me go!" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady. He chuckled and said,"You should be grateful I noticed you otherwise a fat girl like you would never catch my attention." I rolled my eyes and tried to sound braver than I felt,"Jokes on you. I don't care. Now let me go before I scream."
He laughed again, his grip tightening, and I squealed in pain. "You talk too much," he said, enjoying the scene. He released me, stepping back without breaking eye contact. I rubbed my sore wrists, seeing the red marks, his fingers had left behind. By the time I looked up, he was gone.
I let out a shaky breath, feeling frustrated and confused. Why was everyone acting so strangely lately? And to make matters worse, my best friend was nowhere to be found, leaving me in this chaos alone.
