It was as soon as I set foot in the front door that I heard that woman’s moans. I can’t remember if I dared to walk closer or if the next part was in my head…
“Ugh…” she gasped with laughter. “So, that boy you’re with… He comes up with all the stories?”
“Oh yeah. He’s a goldmine… but that’s all that he’s good for. You’re so much better, baby. I promise.”

Our bedroom was the first room on the left. Did he really not think…? No. Did he really not care… if I…?
I don’t know if it was a blessing or a misfortune that I could open and close a door so quietly… Of course, I stayed invisible—just like I always have and always will.
I’m going to cover my mouth now… To keep myself from screaming, I told myself.
And I did—but tears began streaming down my face like miniature rivers filled with leeches that fed off of my despair.

⁃ #922 was found after a sudden disappearance that coincided with another case

Statement : Det. Tul
I was currently investigating a case about to go cold. With the fast pace of crime and mystery in our town, our priorities must change quicker than they morally ought to. Forgive me, captain, but this is what I think. The Hyu’shae murder from 3 months ago compelled me to go back. Her bones were found miles from any place she was known to be—and there as no time at all for her body to have decayed that fast.
Yes, there are monsters in our town, both human-born and supernatural—but we shouldn’t ignore them simply because there are so many. I followed a new lead.
One of the locals told me that on a rainy evening before Hyu’shae’s disappearance, there was a young man who had been sitting on the sidewalk for two days straight. No one could move him. People offered him food, water, conversation… but the man only stared at the sewer grate before him in silence.
I ventured into the tunnels with two of our ground patrol who were off-duty, but curious (Lt. Roe and Det. Kil). We found… . .. . . … . … . .

“I know who that is…” one of the men whispered beside me, lowering his flashlight. He looked astonished.
“That’s right… I didn’t even think of it…” He cracked a terrified smile.
That was while I held him in my arms—the boy. He was covered in this… black mucus. But it was still clear enough to see his features—like a hellish gloss over his porcelain skin.
Before he— #922 was saved ̶c̶a̶p̶t̶u̶r̶e̶d̶—He had almost killed me.
̶J̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶h̶e̶ ̶k̶i̶l̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶h̶—̶?̶
.. .. ..
As the three of us had walked deeper into the tunnel, I picked up on a sloshing of liquid that echoed not from our own feet. I ordered the men to stop, and yet it still rang in my ears. My fear was realized, but at the same time my heart began to pound with excitement. I was right! There is something! Something here!
I spun around. Then, not a second after… I couldn’t breathe. I only caught a glimpse of the outside of this monster.
My comrades tell me it looked like a shadow—somewhat translucent—wearing a thick, invisible skin that writhed in a way that made their stomachs turn.
One of the men tried to pull me out from the clutches of this demon, but while the entity didn’t even take a step or lean its frame, it managed to hurl the officer backward. Det. Kil took a risk by shooting the thing’s legs, not wishing to harm me where I was pulled in. However, no bullets made any difference… and I know why.
The creature they witnessed… was *ultra*dimensional. What I saw… was entirely different from what tainted their vision.
I was plunged into water—dark water—but there was a faint and heavenly glow that must’ve come from the other officers’ flashlights. I opened my eyes to find my head submerged in an ethereal space. It seemed small and endless at the same time… I watched the bullets fly in and slow down as if caught in an ancient brew of molasses. They drifted harmlessly through the liquid before me.
I was smart enough to hold my breath as soon as I had felt the cold, wet sensation of the space around me… Yet, it grew warmer as I stared at the center of this spectacle.
In the middle of this dark, ethereal space, stood an unconscious boy. It seemed he would be controlling this vessel—this wearable warship… but I could tell he was not in control. His eyes were shut as his silvery blue locks danced slowly around his face to the most melancholic tune.
As I continued to hold tight onto my breath, I reached out a hand—or rather, I reached it into this void—pushing it through the black water. By my determination, and while clinging onto hope, I pressed my finger into the boy’s cheek.
I was astonished to see this awaken him.
His eyes opened, and they were a beautiful green. He opened his mouth and seemed to breathe just fine. So, like a fool, I followed his action. I tried to breathe through my nose, but immediately choked on the liquid flame that entered my lungs.
The boy had panic in his emerald eyes, and I saw him lunge towards me. My eyes soon pinched shut from the pain of my mistake, but I remember feeling a softness on my lips and a firmness beneath my jaw—prying it open.
All at once, those strange sensations were taken from me, and replaced by one: my ass slamming hard on the concrete beneath a stream of the foulest sludge.
I had fallen into the sewer water—and the stench was abhorrent… but I could breathe!
My fellow detective and lieutenant rushed towards me, and soon after they checked on my health, I had heard that comment from Lt. Roe about the boy that landed in my arms.
He appeared unbeknownst to me at first—I began to think I was having something between a nightmare and dream. But here he was: a sleeping prince. He remained unconscious despite all the voices around him, but through Lt. Roe, I discovered that his name was Sol Chi’oryo. He had been reported missing 2 days after the woman from my murder mystery.
I’ve done my best to work out all the possible scenarios in my head… of what happened that day—to both Chi’oryo and the victim. I can’t, under good conscience… label him as a monster—a murderer… even as the evidence stares me in the face—punches me in the gut.

What should I do, Captain?
Do I save the boy… or do I save the town?
…Do you think I could manage… to do both?
