Summary

Grave Whispers is a haunting, emotionally charged supernatural mystery set in a forgotten town where the dead never truly sleep. Beneath the cracked headstones and overgrown cemetery paths, something ancient stirs — a voice, a presence, a curse passed down in silence. When grieving teen Lena Harrow moves to Greystone Hollow after her brother’s mysterious death, she begins hearing whispers at night—voices no one else can hear, murmuring secrets only the dead should know. As she digs deeper into the town’s eerie past, Lena uncovers buried sins, ghostly apparitions, and a truth too horrifying to speak aloud. Bound by grief and driven by a need for answers, Lena must walk the line between the living and the dead — and learn that not every ghost wants to be forgotten. Some demand to be heard.

Dramatis Personae

The Rowen Family

Amy Rowen – 16. Sensitive, skeptical, and haunted. She’s always felt like a stranger in her own family. Her strange connection to the graveyard begins to awaken a gift—or a curse—passed down from her father.

Rachael Rowen – Amy’s mother. Sharp, stubborn, fiercely protective. She once loved Daniel but now fears what he became. Holds secrets that twist the family’s past into something darker than Amy knows.

Daniel Rowen – Amy’s estranged father. Tall, enigmatic, unhinged. Long presumed dead. He speaks in riddles, believes the dead whisper truths, and may have made a pact with something buried.

Joseph Rowen – Amy’s younger brother. 13. Quiet and observant. Knows more than he lets on—especially about the man he calls “Father” and the voices he sometimes hears in his dreams.

Residents of Elms-wood and Beyond

Noah Sorrell – 17. Amy’s former best friend. Loyal, witty, and grieving the recent death of his sister. Feels something wrong is awakening in Elmswood. He keeps Amy grounded—but has his own ghosts to chase.

Mrs. Lillian Graves – 80s. The local historian and cemetery caretaker. Suffers from dementia—or so people say. Still roams the graveyard at night, whispering names and lighting candles no one else can see.

Reverend Malcom Crane – 50s. Charismatic, intense, and oddly fixated on Amy’s family. Claims to protect the town from “spiritual rot.” Might be hiding a very different kind of faith.

Dr. Eve Marlowe – 40s. The town psychiatrist. Rachael sends Amy to see her after the first incident. Kind, but something about her feels… too practiced. Too knowing.

Silas – A figure only Amy sees at first. Appears in reflections and dreams. Wears an old funeral suit and smiles like he knows when you’ll die. May be a spirit—or something worse.

The Dead (or Almost Dead)

Elias Rowen – Born 1841. Died 1870. Amy sees his name on a headstone in the graveyard—and then begins hearing him whisper her name.

The Black-Eyed Boy – An urban legend in Elmswood. Said to walk the graves at night. Some say he’s Daniel as a child. Some say he’s what Daniel became.

The Gravekeeper – A shifting figure in the fog. Sometimes old, sometimes young, sometimes wearing Daniel’s face. He knows every secret buried in Elmswood—and waits for Amy to join him.

Themes:

Broken Family Ties – The emotional pull of a father long gone, and the betrayal hidden in silence.

The Past Never Dies – Family secrets buried (literally and figuratively) coming back to haunt.
