(57) Self-cannibalism
(57) Self-cannibalism.
Hans Seyle proved by spinning tied rats quickly on a dish for a long time that enduring what you don't like can kill you. Many physiological functions react to this condition.
The consistent similarity in both the morbid psychological and physiological reactions to this condition is called stress. When people talk about self-cannibalism in these latest outbreaks, they're actually referring to their self-mutilation with the teeth.
The grisly effect of seeing one at it does remind one of flesh consumption. Many pieces eventually get bitten off and chewed. It's a bit like when you chew the skin around your nails, but much worse.
It isn't hunger. The amount of themselves eaten each time is insufficient to be called a meal. After a prolonged period, though, the wounded portions exhibiting bone and teeth marks remind us once again of traditional cannibalism.
The selected victims for such occasions aren't seen walking around half-eaten, though. They're usually killed and eaten. These people look like they've escaped a morbid assault. But they have been doing it to themselve If.
If they could have run away from themselves, they would have. It is terribly painful, especially after the stressful event, when they come back more to their senses.
It doesn't stop them from inflicting this painful mutilation on themselves. That makes a lot of sense. Just why should they? Why should they stop? People can endure a long time under painful conditions, even self-inflicted, so they have a right to continue too.
If some look like very scary lepers or like half-eaten cadavers, it is because of society. We have to live with them. They are people too. You will discover for yourself, if you give them a chance, some are actually quite sensitive.
They may recognize you from time to time. It's a bit like taming a spider. We often seem to think they'll be harmed, but it's the opposite; they are afraid you think they'll harm you.
It's hard to tell if they're smiling when the lips and cheeks are all chewed away. It's permanently seeing the teeth and gums. It gives a look, an eyesore of shock when glimpsed unexpectedly.
You may feel like keeping your distance. But it isn't dangerous, though. It can't hurt you. We get scared irrationally at times and even may have panic reactions.
Sometimes we don't expect to suddenly see so what up close or shake a hand half eaten to the bone. Skeleton hands, they're called. When it comes to the arms, many unconsciously begin with the finger tips. Mayne Some tear away from the shoulder to the fingers on both arms.
Some prefer their feet and legs. Some like it all. People can't get at their ribs or bums. It is better that way. What they really do is chew themselves to a near skeleton.
When any of these body parts becomes seriously infected, it really stinks a lot. Very badly. It might be all swollen, with fizzing patches of tiny whitish bubbles. You might not want them to come close; besides, it could be contagious.
We've all seen them; we all know about them. Most grownups would prefer their kids didn't become like that. Others don't give a damn if they become like that themselves. You even less.
Some heads postulated It is an inheritance of the animal kingdom, like when rabbits chew their foot free from a collar. Well, we are mammals, aren't we?
That's what's dangerous. These people don't do it for leisure. It's not because you don't see a collar that there isn't one. Seeing it this way and behaving like it was the last straw. If these people don't look good, it won't get better anytime soon.
After all, they just don't stop. They chew it themselves. If that's bad enough already, the worst are those who don't. They regard it like a problem, a maladaptation. But they don't know they're living in a dream; it's what they were taught.
The worst ones are those who find joy in living. They are the least in contact with reality yet serve the most as models. People usually give up their pets when they start doing it. Did you ever have a cat or dog who lost an eye?
It's similar, but far more disgusting and unattractive. Sometimes it grows on you, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, for animals it's easier; you can get them exterminated with other random rejects. But even though people are animals, they have the right to suffer until they die.
The meagre resources keep them alive to suffer longer. When it gets too painful, or for other unexplained reasons, some suddenly rip themselves open, pull out some bowels, and die bleeding and choking. Some people spontaneously combust without ever having held a flame to themselves before.
Some rip themselves open frantically and die gorging without ever having nibbled a thing of themselves before. So if it didn't happen to you or anyone you know yet, it always still could happen

I just finished reading your story, and I’m honestly blown away by how immersive it is. Every scene feels alive, every emotion hits deeply, and the pacing keeps you completely hooked. Your characters are so well defined that it’s impossible not to care about them. There’s such a rare magic in your writing, it lingers even after finishing. Do you already have plans for the next part?
