Cheater

At first this felt like a loss but it was really a gain; for the biggest complient is to be hated by a cheater. You hated me because I knew my worth. You hated me because I didn’t need to know I was better than someone to feel good about myself. I knew that I deserved effort, affection, loyalty, and attention. So you found someone easy that would eat up your crumbs like she’d never eaten before. And that’s okay.

That poor girl that fell for your lies, believing you were a victim; believing that you were capable. Because someone weak enough to break up a marriage sure as hell won’t have the strength to endure you. And poor Dalton for thinking you could live a lie - a double life - and keep it up forever. The seeds you’ve sewn will grow to strangle you.

But I’ll be okay. The life I’ve built is still a good one. The truth I’ve told is still true. The kindness I’ve spoken is still just a reflection of me and only me. And the foundation I’ve built with an honest heart is still standing even after you’ve fallen because you were never there to hold it up from the start. I will be okay.
