Chapter 1
"The Unexpected Proposal"
It was a normal morning in the Sehgal house when Sanskriti’s father gently called her to the living room. But the atmosphere was different today. There was something serious in his voice, something unspoken in his eyes. He looked at Sanskriti and reminded her of a conversation they had two years ago — when she had clearly said she would only marry someone she knew well. But time had passed, and she still hadn’t found the one.
Sanskriti tried to explain that she was still searching, still hoping. But her father had already made up his mind. A marriage proposal had come — a really good one, he said. And what shocked Sanskriti more was that he and her mother had made her profile on a marriage app without telling her.
She felt betrayed, confused, and a little angry. But her father’s soft, emotional eyes melted her heart. His voice shook a little as he said he had never asked her for anything before… and today, he was asking for this.
Tears welled up in her father’s eyes. Seeing that, Sanskriti broke down too. She hugged him tightly and sobbed in his arms. Finally, wiping her tears, she said softly that she would say yes — only because he asked. But she requested him not to cry again… because seeing him like that broke her heart too.
At Rudraksh’s House
In a big, modern house, Rudraksh was sitting on the couch with his phone in hand, scrolling without much interest. His mother walked in, her face full of excitement.
Mother: “Rudraksh, it’s time you settle down. We’ve found a really good marriage proposal for you.”
Rudraksh looked up, surprised but calm.
Rudraksh: “Mom, I don’t think I’m made for all this marriage stuff. I don’t fit into that world.”
Mother (firmly): “You always say this. But now you have to think about your future. This girl is perfect for you.”
His father stood silently nearby, supporting his wife’s words with just his presence.
Rudraksh stayed quiet for a moment… then looked at his mom and softly said,
“Maa, you are everything to me. I always listen to you… and I will this time too.”
His mother’s eyes lit up with joy. She hugged him tightly.
Mother: “You said yes? Really? Oh thank you, beta! We’ve already sent your proposal to the Sehgal family.”
Rudraksh (smiling): “Okay, Maa.”
His mother happily rushed out to start preparing for the marriage.
Now only Rudraksh and his father were in the room.
His father sat on the chair beside him, staring at his son.
Rudraksh (half-smiling): “What happened, Dad?”
Father: “What’s going on, Rudra? What’s your actual plan?”
Rudraksh gave a small smirk.
Rudraksh: “To marry the girl my mother selected.”
Father (shaking his head): “No… that’s her plan. I’m asking about yours.”
Rudraksh leaned back and calmly replied,
“Stay out of it, Dad. It’s my problem.”
His father let out a sigh and said quietly,
“I knew it. You would never say yes to marriage just because your mom said so. I know you. You don’t even understand the language of love.”
And now the question is...
What exactly is Rudraksh’s real plan?
Will it break Sanskriti’s heart?
