Chapter 1

Hello everyone. 🙋‍♀️

Due to some requests, I'm now trying to translate my books into English. However, my English isn't very good. Therefore, I only use a German-English translator from the internet. So if the translation contains errors, please don't misunderstand.

Comments in English may take a while to respond, as I can't always use a translator.

This book is not yet finished in German. After Inkitt approves it, I'll upload a new chapter every two days.

I hope you enjoy reading it.😉

Davina

As I sat in bed, trying to study for my twelfth-grade final, which was tomorrow, I thought about my mother.

Lately, she seemed nervous and overprotective.

She also made sure I wore my bracelet every day, which prevented other wolves from identifying me as an Omega or even a she-wolf.

My mother hated male wolves, especially alpha wolves.

She never told me much about her past, and I didn't hold it against her, because whenever the subject came up, she looked both sad and angry. That's exactly why I never asked questions about it.

Alice was always there for me, and I loved her with all my heart, but I also wanted to know where I came from and who my real parents were.

Why was I alone when Alice found me?

I had a million questions, but no one could answer them.

We lived in a big city, where there were wolves, of course, but they were all loners or small families who had separated from their packs and lived among humans, like us.

However, I kept my distance from everyone.

I couldn't say why, but everyone and everything here felt wrong.

People smelled very strange to me, and I didn't like the wolves that lived here either. My mother's dislike of other wolves probably rubbed off on me.

I preferred to be alone or spend time with my loving adoptive mother.

But for the past few weeks, I've had the same dream over and over again, one that has haunted me constantly.

In my dream, I was five years old again, holding the hand of a boy only a few years older than me. We were both covered in soot as we ran hand in hand like the devil from something.

"They're coming! Faster, diva, faster." The boy called to me over his shoulder again and again.

A feeling of fear, mixed with pure panic, gripped me as I willingly followed the boy.

But I still wondered why he called me Diva.

His voice sounded so familiar, yet I just couldn't place it.

I couldn't really see his face either, as it was pitch black, but I still trusted this boy, of whom I could only see the vague outline.

But his hand, tightly gripping mine, gave me security and a feeling of trust.

But when a loud bang sounded, I repeatedly woke up drenched in sweat and silently screaming.

For the past few weeks, I've had this dream almost every night, which is why I've barely been able to sleep.

"Little mouse, dinner's ready!" my mother called, tearing me from my thoughts.

"I'm coming," I replied, putting my book down and immediately rushing to the kitchen.

Even though I was rather small and skinny, I loved to eat.

It was truly amazing how much I could eat.

The kitchen was directly across from my room, so I could see my mother.

She was just putting the pot on the table and started grinning in my direction.

Smirking, she scolded, "Slow down! The food won't run away from you!"

I started giggling as I slowed down.

My adoptive mother was beautiful, as always.

She wore a short bob, her brown hair always having a slight, natural shine. She had womanly curves, a loving smile, and a well-toned body, even though she was almost in her late forties.

"This smells delicious, as always!" I gushed as I sat down and she began filling our plates.

She cooked my favorite dish.

Pork knuckle with sauerkraut and potatoes.

However, as we began to eat, a strange feeling came over me.

Because when she cooked my favorite meal, she usually had something important to announce, which is why I automatically gave her a questioning look.

She gave me a warm smile as she said, "Oh dear, you already suspect it, don't you?"

"Mom? What's wrong?" I asked worriedly, to which she explained, "Little mouse, I think you're about to turn eighteen. My wolf can sense it. The bracelet will continue to hide you from other wolves, but you might meet your mate."

I dropped my fork in shock.

Please, no.

I don't want a mate who tells me what to do and what not to do. I don't want to submit to anyone, and especially not to my mate.

My mother had told me everything about wolves, the dangers they posed, and all the existing packs.

And I hated the idea of having to bond with a stranger.

I just wanted to be free and live completely for myself and my mother.

So far, I hadn't had good experiences with boys either.

Everyone stared at me, almost drooling and horny, which is why I only wore baggy clothes and ugly glasses.

A year ago, a boy forced himself on me.

I was able to fend him off well thanks to the training I had with my mother every day, but since then, I've vowed to stay away from boys.

"Little mouse, you've turned pale. Don't worry, you remember what I told you about the rejection, right?" asked my mother, who was now looking at me worriedly.

She knew exactly what I was thinking.

I nodded as she stood up and took me in her arms.

"You're not weak, and you don't have to submit to anyone if you don't want to. Yes, you may be an Omega, but please believe me, you are very special and deserve only the best!" she whispered to me, which made me hug her even tighter.

"Alice is absolutely right. We are very strong, Davina, and we won't let any man or wolf subjugate us, ever!" The voice of my wolf, Thunder, sounded in my head, which calmed me down.
