CHAPTER 1: "Not the Last Day"
INT. CLASSROOM – LATE AFTERNOON
The soft golden light filters through the windows. LOMA sits quietly, staring outside, lost in thought. Her expression is unreadable.
LILY
(noticing her)
Loma? Loma! Why are you zoning out like that? Did I disturb your... daydreaming?
LOMA blinks and glances at Lily, then looks away again. She hesitates.
LOMA
(thinking, to herself)
Should I tell her? Can I...?
A brief silence. Then another friend, NEAVIS, walks in with a smile.
NEAVIS
Hey, what’s going on? Why the serious faces?
LOMA
(softly, voice trembling)
Umm... You know... It’s my last day. With you all. With such good friends.
I hate to say it... but after today...
we might never meet again.
Lily’s smile fades. Neavis stares, stunned.
LILY
Wait—what? What are you saying?
NEAVIS
You’re kidding, right? You’re telling us now?
Who... who tells it like this?
LOMA
I just found out too.
A few days ago. I didn’t want to believe it...
but it's true.
There’s been a sudden transfer.
LILY
But... why so sudden?
LOMA
It’s for financial reasons.
We have to move back to my old city.
It’s cheaper there.
My parents... they had no choice.
A silence lingers in the air. Emotion hangs heavy.
LILY & NEAVIS
(softly, together)
If it’s true...
then we’ll miss you.
The three of them look at each other — eyes glistening, hearts heavy. The sun outside begins to set.
FADE OUT.
