What a long day.
“AAAAAH I HATE HIM SOOO MUCH”
I sit back and watch as my client, Ms Wilkins, screams her lungs out in my office. The unfortunate news that hit her was that her darling Fiance, decided to back out of the wedding. I personally knew he was no good when he called her a fatass for eating cake samples.
“Let it all out Ms. Wilkins.”
I see her clutch her purse hard, the poor purse holding it down in the face of that incrediblely tight hold she has. Her eyes are puffy red, lipstick and Mascara smeared from biting her bag and crying her eyes out. Usually I would not dare host a rage session in the office of a sacred space, but she needs it. The universe knows that if I were to be called fatass by my fiance, he would not be in the land of the living anymore.
“THAT MAN CALLED ME FAT, HE WASNT CALLING ME FAT WHEN I WAS THROWING IT BACK TO EDM LAST NIGHT.”
“ooh lord.”
Shanae enters, holding three glasses of champagne. Ms. Wilkins looks at her then cries more. Shanae lowers one glass to her.
“You need it.”
Ms. Wilkins takes the glass and downs it in one gulp. Shanae offers another to me but I decline.
“Ms. Wilkins can have it. I can see her soul is in desperate need of tender love and champagne.”
Ms. Wilkins devours my glass too. All three of us, well two technically, sit in sympathetic silence. After some time, her shakey voice is heard.
“What am I going to do now. I need my fucking money back. I PAID 30k FOR THAT SACK OF SHIT TO HAVE HIS BUM MOM AND HIS TRAILER TRASH SISTER, HAVE THE WEDDING HE AND THEM AND MAYBE I WANTED. I RATHER NOW USE THE 30k TO GO TO HAWAII.”
I shift through all the finanical documents I’ve collected in regards to the would be wedding.
“I need your card history to show you have paid for the venue and all the people involved. Once I get that, then I will call the pla-“
A thrust of air hits my face as I see every last paper detailing her purchase history. I grab the papers and look through. Venue check; photographer check; Bdsm gear??? I raise a quick eyebrow to Ms. Wilkins whose pouring her eyes out to Shanae. After going through everything, I give a small smile.
“You came prepared”
Her sniffles stiffen as she wipes that drippy nose of hers.
“HELL YEAH I DID. FUCK HIM.”
She storms out the room. Shanae laughs softly, picking up the empty champagne bottles.
“You’ll have a long day ahead of you Cassidy.”
I roll my eyes playfully, watching Shanae leave. After the door closes, I rub my temples and get to dialing the first number.
………………….
“Thank you, sorry for the inconvenience.”
I hang up the last number, the moon shinning through my curtains. Yawning, I pack the last of my things and head out the office.
“Exuse me sir, we simply can’t do that for you”
I turn the corner and hear Shanaes voice from outside the building. I open the door and see Shanae, standing two steps above the sidewalk that seperates her and the ex Fiance of Ms. Wilkins.
“THERE IS THAT DAMN WEDDING PLANNER. I PAID FOR EVERYTHING, TELL THE VENUES THAT AND GIVE ME MY MONEY.”
I hide my displeasure
“Mr. Smith, your ex fiance provided me proof that she paid for everything, nothing was in your name.”
He scowls and continues to yell, spit flying out his mouth like a rabid dog.
“LIES, THAT WOMAN FORGES A LOT OF SHIT. I DEMAND MY MONEY NOW”
He smacks his hands together as he speaks. If i can pinpoint, he’s like a little chihuahua, just not cute to keep apparently. I cross my arms, shifting weight to better deal with these uncomfortable ass heels.
“I need viable proof, card purchases that show that you ineed purchased the things bought for the wedding. If you can, then you’ll have my testimony if your bank ever comes looking for the money.”
I can see the red rush across his face. Before I can even say anything more, he rushes off. Shanae takes out her cigarette, lighting it up.
“Ugh, I cannot see how Wilkins got with him in the first place. But hey, I hope that Hawaii trip goes to plan.”
I laugh.
“For what I went through today with them, I hope she invites us.”
We cackle down the steps, sharing her cigarette.
“Want a ride? The subway might be dangerous this time of hour.”
Shanae thinks about it then nods.
“You know I can never say no to you.”
We make it to my little 2004 toyota Corolla. Once we both are buckled in, I fix my rearview mirror and drive off.
I hope tomorrow isn’t any worse.
