Chapter 1
11:45 p.m. EDT
The sky is clearer than ever. Just 5 minutes before landing.
Anho, sitting on a business class seat, is fiddling with his fingers while looking out the window. A phone alarm goes off revealing the seventeen-carat-themed lock screen he has kept. He glances at the time and then goes through his bag to find a cubical blue-green box. He opens it, revealing its two sections each parted to have pills and capsules.
He chooses the wine-colored capsules and chews on them as sharp canine teeth reveal themselves covered in crimson liquid flowing out of the capsules. He goes through his phone for the last time before the pilot declares the end of the trip.
12:03 a.m. EDT
He has been waiting outside the airport for a while now. Kevin, the secretary of the CEO Anho will be working for, was supposed to be here ahead of time. In that scenario, he’s late.
A black van pulls in front of Anho as he closes his dial list on his phone screen, noticing it. He was about to call Kevin when he noticed him in the driving seat.
The door of the van slides open and Anho gets in. “You’re late.” He hisses; annoyed. “I’m aware. Had to drop off Mr. Blaze after a meeting.” Kevin replies, his husky tone filling in the silence of the van.
“Reminds me..” Anho starts after a prolonged silence, “When are we meeting?” “Tomorrow, 8 a.m.,” Kevin replies, staring directly at his eyes through the rear view mirror as his dark strands fly along the wind.
12: 45 a.m. EDT
Anho is seen getting out of the van in a dark yet dimly lit parking lot. He looks around, noticing tiny details of the basement lot, trying to find possible pieces of evidence for his upcoming case. As this is the very parking lot, the ‘accident’ took place a year ago.
He notices the obvious security cameras fitted on the top right corner of the ceiling. He further examines the walls, secretly while having normal conversations with Kevin, as he follows him down the hall and over to the elevator door, now waiting for it to come down.
His crystal blue eyes land on something specific and his pupils dilate at the sight.
Tiny spy cameras…?
12:52 a.m. EDT
The robotic female voice counting the floor while going upward is the only thing disrupting the silence of the elevator.
The voice, at one point, stops; with her last count being ‘20’.
The elevator door smoothly slides open revealing the two black-suited men.
One, Anho Kang, dressed in a black suit and boots, the color complementing his fair complexion skin. He looks pale, a little too pale. But then again, his rosy pink lips and his crystal blue eyes accompanied by rosy under eyes and his messy black hair falling across his face bring life to him.
Otherwise, he might as well be equivalent to a corpse.
The Other, Kevin Erin, dressed in all black as well, his tan skin glistening under the yellow lights of the hallway as they walked. His dark hair is slicked back, tied up in a ponytail with two strands falling over his temples and hints of dyed blonde over the slicked ones.
Both their gazes are sharp enough to cut through one’s soul.
Kevin stops in front of room 2081, making Anho almost stumble over. He brings out the security card, unlocks the door, and lets them in before handing it to Anho.
The room suddenly lit up with each candle along the corners, revealing a king-sized bed, a sofa with a glass desk by the floor-length glass wall, a TV on the wall to the left, and a pathway beside the wall that possibly leads to the bathroom.
The room is decorated in vintage European style: long, graceful vintage curtains to cover the glass wall when needed, freshly plucked roses sitting inside a porcelain vase on the bedside drawer, furniture with floral upholstery, and bedding made with vintage fabrics.
“Woah..” Anho murmurs under his breath, clearly in awe at the lighting and decorations. The room is perfect for his vibe; he thinks. Almost too perfect?
“Meals at level 25, the whole floor’s a cafe,” Kevin says, ready to leave.
“Wait, it’s 30-storied if I’m not wrong?”
“Hmm, why?” He questions, raising an eyebrow.
“Nothing,” Anho shrugs before asking, “When am I getting the files?”
“They are on the desk over there.”
1:30 a.m. EDT
He has been looking through the files for a while now. And the more he looks into it, the more odd and confused he feels about this case.
It is as though a few of the pages have been removed or deleted completely. The information has holes in it for Anho to fulfill.
Anho’s Diary Entry-1
Around 1:something a.m. (didn’t check the time)
I have been looking into this case since I’ve set my foot here.
And, it, honestly speaking, feels weird.
The pieces of information I have don’t align together. Some things are missing. I know that for sure.
Nevertheless, I still have to get this solved (though I have yet to sign the contract). So, this is what I have so far:
Phelan Blaze’s (the CEO of B.E Group, the one who hired me) dad, Dew Blaze was found dead in the parking lot of this very 30-storied building. A week after which, an employee close to Dew was found dead in the same spot (?).
The incident made national news for the obvious reasons. And Phelan took the position of CEO right after.
The police looked into the case and thought of it as a serial murder. However, there was no CCTV footage found of the incidents, which was hella odd as if they had been deleted or never recorded in the first place; since the latter wasn’t a choice, whoever messed with the evidence is a cyber-expert OR has hired one.
There’s no way, it’s THAT clean.
But I noticed in the files and the parking lot I’d observed earlier that the police don’t know about the spy cams. Or were they just installed later in the timeline? Either way, I’m getting my hands on them.
But then again, let’s say, they were installed even before those incidents took place. How come nobody ever mentions this? They might be tiny for the naked eye but we aren’t living under the rock or something.
Anyway, I’m thinking too much and too fast for a closed case; now open, secretly that is.
Back to the Infos:
They didn’t find any DNA samples either (?) No forensic footprints? No footage? nothing? And they settled down to other clues from the past, from the people clues to Dew or that employee. Police started suspecting Phelan and his step-sister, Viviana. It was almost solved until it shut down for some unknown reasons (?)
Money? Maybe. Probably.
And now, to the present, a year later, Phelan hires me to re-open and solve the case (?)
But why? Why would he do that if he were one of the prime suspects? And if he was the one behind all of these, why would he risk his clear/clean reputation and waste his money on harming himself?
What’s Viviana got to do with all of these? From what I’ve heard she’s always been distant from her father and mostly lived abroad. And, apart from her being a suspect, the files don’t mention ANYTHING about her or her involvement. Why?
And to this day, the murderer still walks free.
I, honestly don’t get this case or this family. Nevertheless, I will be following the police’s lead as well as my own. Which means,
PERSON OF INTEREST
Phelan Blaze
Viviana Blaze
TO DOs:
Look through CCTVs, again, just in case.
Get my hands on those spy cams.(See if they have one in my room /hj)
Interview both Phelan and Viviana.
For now, I’m done and I need to get some rest before I look more into it tomorrow.
