Kolkata was once a magnificent city , a place where people would roam the streets even at night, where couples spent entire days together, sometimes in parks and sometimes enjoying candle-light dinner at restaurants.

Children’s mischief echoed through neighborhood, and one could even hear their curses in the alley.

The wealthy would enjoy themselves at lavish bars in massive malls, and crowds gathered at cinemas to watch the latest films.

But today, that same Kolkata has transformed into a deserted region , a place where neither animals nor birds exist, and no plants grow.

And even if something does exist, all that can be seen in every street, every alley, are rivers of blood.

This Kolkata is no longer just a barren or ruined land. It has now become a victim of a bloody game.

It was 4 in the evening. People were walking along the streets , some heading home from the office, some returning from college. Among them, many were busy shopping in the markets.

Everything seemed normal but in the blink of an eye, the sky was covered with thick black clouds, and rain began pouring down , un-seasonal and sudden.

People started running in all directions. That’s when a boy looked down at his white shirt. He found it was stained red.

Terrified, the boy screamed, and as soon as his voice reached the ears of the others, everyone who had been running came to an abrupt stop and stared at him.

As they saw him, a single word escaped their lips…

“Blood? Blood?”...Panic spread like wildfire.

The people who were standing still suddenly turned to run again but before they could escape, they began falling one by one to the ground.

“Who’s there? Who is it?” the boy yelled, his voice trembling. He was the same boy whose shirt had just been drenched in blood.

Moments later, a group emerged before the stunned crowd. Strange figures about twenty or more appeared before them. Looking at them, it seemed as if they were the walking dead.

Their faces were pale as death, and their eyes were blood red. Blood was smeared at the corners of their mouths as though they had just feasted on someone.

Among them were ten men, five women, and five small children.

Suddenly, one of them walked up to a girl standing by the roadside.

The girl, trembling with fear, was on the verge of fainting. She watched, paralyzed, as he came closer. She collapsed to the ground and began begging for her life but the figure moved even closer and stared deeply into her eyes.

With a terrifying smile, he lunged at her. But just then his hand was severed and fell to the ground.

He screamed in agony. A moment later, his other hand was cut off too.His screams grew louder, piercing the air. When the other saw this, two of them walked forward not to save him, but to tear him apart right there and end his suffering.

The girl, barely alive standing beside someone else. As the remaining creatures caught sight they stood still, stunned.

Those grotesque beings who tried to kill that girl were vampires.

Vampires the world never believed were real everyone thought vampires only existed in films, but these people had come face to face with the horrifying reality. They were bloodthirsty creatures who showed no mercy to anyone.

truben21: It took me a while to get into the flow of this story, but once I did, I was hooked. The female lead step from naivety to siren was a little fast for me, but I guess it needed to be, to move the story along. I can't wait for the next story, with the cliff hanger whetting my appetite.
