Summary

Dante and Mo have been dancing around their feelings for almost a year. Everyone assumes they’re already a couple—the glances, the inside jokes, the subtle way their energy pulls toward each other. But neither of them has said the words, and nothing’s ever crossed the line. Until tonight. When Mo invites him over, she tells herself it’s just to talk. But when Dante touches her like he’s memorized every inch of her in his mind, it’s clear this has been building for a long, long time. He’s never been with anyone since it all fell apart—but when it comes to her, he doesn’t hesitate. He just knows. Because even though they’re not together… they’ve always been ‘almost’.

One night is all it takes.

They weren’t together.

Not officially.

But everyone thought they were.

Friends stopped asking. People just assumed. They moved around each other like magnets—drawn close, pulling back, orbiting in sync. He never made it obvious, never one for grand displays, but when he looked at her, it felt like something undeniable was just beneath the surface.

He was quiet. Reserved. Especially with affection. But she’d learned to read the in-between moments. The way his fingers lingered near hers when they sat side by side. The small glances he didn’t think she noticed. The way his body always angled toward her in a room, like he was tuned to her even when he wasn’t touching her.

They met in September—almost exactly a year ago now. She didn’t think much of it at first. He was five years younger, charming but careful, warm but slightly closed off. Still, there was something about him. Something her spirit recognized before her heart did.

By October, they’d confessed.

But still… no title. No label. Just a connection so thick it pulled the air out of the room sometimes.

There were moments, though. Quiet, fleeting moments where he let something show. Like when she was tired and he held her longer than necessary. Or when she caught him staring when he thought she wasn’t looking. Or the way he listened—really listened—when she talked, as if every word mattered.

She used to wonder if he was afraid of crossing a line. Or maybe he was waiting for the right moment. Maybe he wanted to be sure. She never asked.

But lately, things had shifted.

His touches stayed longer. His silences felt heavier. He didn’t pull away as quickly. And sometimes, she caught something in his eyes that wasn’t there before.

Something that looked like a decision.

One year. That’s how long it took before everything changed almost overnight.

She invited him over, telling herself it was just to talk. She didn’t expect him to kiss her like he’d been thinking about it for months. He wasn’t one to take the initiative when it came to kissing—it was always her—but when his hands knew exactly where to go and how much pressure to apply, she couldn’t help but ask:

“You’re sure you haven’t done this before?”

He didn’t pull away completely, just enough to look her in the eyes. His voice was low as he responded, his fingers tracing her inner thigh.

“Not with anyone else,” he said, “but I’ve imagined it with you more times than I cared to count.”

The kiss resumed as his fingers slid up and down her folds. Once he inserted them, he pulled away, taking in how hard her nipples were, accompanied by her flushed face as her hips started moving on their own. He took it as a sign that she wanted more, so he went deeper—earning a loud moan from her.

He liked that. He liked how wet she got for him, how her moans made his body react. But he couldn’t look at her for long—or he’d lose control too.

“What are you thinking about?” she asked, bringing his head in closer to her chest.

“Nothing. Just you.” His response was quick, especially as he hit her spot, causing her to arch up into him.

“What about me?”

“Making you feel good.”

“Mmm, is that so? You think you’re doing a good job?”

He moved his hair out of his face to look at her clearly, his voice still low but more dominant now.

“You tell me,” he said, quickening his pace.

And somehow, that made everything burn hotter. Because even in his inexperience, he paid attention—to every breath she took, every sigh she released, every time her body arched into his touch. He didn’t fumble. He studied. He learned. And the more she tried to stay in control, the more he pulled it from her—gently, thoroughly—until she gave in with a gasp and a grip on his shirt that said: please, don’t stop.

They’d been at it for over an hour. She was completely undone by him—just his fingers.

She tried to catch her breath, but he pressed down on the lower part of her stomach as he slowly pulled his fingers out—pausing at the entrance—only to thrust them back in, deeper and harder.

“No more…” she moaned, her body clenching tightly around him.

“No more?” he echoed. He wasn’t in her ear, but at this point, she was so sensitive to everything that was him, it didn’t matter. Her nipples hardened again just from the sound of his voice, and her eyes rolled back.

“No more,” she repeated, the pressure in her core making her feel like she might burst.

“Just two more minutes.” This time, he leaned in. “You can hold out for two more minutes. I know you can.”

She reached for him, but he caught her wrists in one hand, holding her down gently but firmly.

“One more minute,” he said as her legs wrapped around his arm in a weak attempt to stop him.

“You can do it,” he assured her.

She bit her lip, trying to stifle the moans clawing their way out.

“Thirty seconds…”

Her legs shook uncontrollably. The build-up was too much.

“Ten seconds.”

Her whole body was trembling.

“Five…”

She tried to reach again, desperate, but he stopped her with one word: “No. You’re almost there.”

She couldn’t take it anymore.

“Four…”

Her moans climbed higher.

“Three…”

His pace quickened.

“Two…”

She lost control.

“One.”

She barely registered that the sheets beneath her were soaked.

“See? You made it,” he said calmly, his fingers still inside her, now moving slower, gentler.

“You’re not going to pull out?” she asked, trying to sit up—but her arms gave out, too weak to do much.

“I’ll pull out when I’m ready.”

He pressed deeper again, hitting that same spot but with a lighter touch. His hand was soaked. The room smelled like her.

“Did you… you made me squirt?” she asked breathlessly. It wasn’t something she was used to.

He looked down at his hand, then back at her, eyes locked.

“Yeah. I did.”

“Mmm…” she moaned again—he was still in her.

“You know I want you, right?”

“I’m aware,” he said, voice soft, steady.

“So can I get you?” Her hand slid up his thigh, seeking more.

“No.”

“Why not?”

He leaned in and kissed her forehead.

“Because I said so.”

She clenched around him one last time as he slowly slid his fingers out.

“So… did you enjoy it?” he asked while wiping his hand.

“Shut up…” she muttered, face flushed as she looked away.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
