Prologue
Prologue
I've seen the words of virologist Dr. Carver about this mysterious plague dubbed the scarlet plague. As a doctor myself, I've looked at these videos, and I would be lying if I said I never felt scared.
I did, in fact, feel scared. People always say, Do not trust everything you see on the internet, but something struck in me that told me to trust these words he was saying almost as if they were a thing of truth meant to be laughed at till it becomes no laughing matter.
But why? Why would I think this?
It can't be a coincidence, can it?
Am I stupid?
Am I insane?
Am I paranoid?
Or am I thinking too hard?
The chronicles of what could become a strike of madness running through my head are like a bolt of lightning.
Human blood will eventually spill over if this warning really is a truth that was created to be laughed at till it reveals itself to their faces.
Won't it?
This warning is like a shadow in the closet waiting to climb out and scare us all while it whispers, "You never listened to me; you just laughed and moved on."
To our minds
We will be in a chorus of an empty land when this virus gets a foothold on all of us.
What would it all mean?
No matter how truthful he is being
We may never know because we will be too busy laughing in his face until we are proven wrong.
By our own ignorance and unwillingness to take disturbing warnings from our own experts seriously
But since it has not happened yet, we may forever remain ignorant of our own looming dangers till they occur. I will only ever see a sky raining nothing but our own blood and ignorance, will I?

Hi Greg,
I recently went through your story A Scarlet Hell and I loved it so much. Your writing is amazing, and I kept thinking how cool it would look as a comic.
I really loved the scene in the Prologue where the virologist’s warning about the mysterious "Scarlet Plague", blending influenza, polio, bubonic plague, and prion disease, hangs like a shadow, foretelling a sky “raining nothing but our own blood and ignorance.” That ominous, visceral imagery is ideal for comic adaptation: dramatic panels saturated with crimson hues, darkening skies, and a looming sense of dread would deliver real cinematic impact. I also appreciated the moment in the Prologue when the narrator wrestles with inner doubt asking, "Am I paranoid? Or am I thinking too hard?"as the chronic sense of impending disaster gathers like a silent storm. Translating that introspective tension into art could involve surreal, uneasy panel layouts, like fragmented flash-frames, shadowed close-ups on anxious eyes and tense expressions, that amplify emotional resonance and pull the reader in. I’m specialized in adapting stories into manga/comics, and I’d love to draw your story into a comic/manga. No pressure though, I just think your work would look awesome in comic form. If you’re interested in a paid collaboration, I’d love to discuss bringing your story to life visually!
