The Little Demon

Jack, as usual, set out with his friends after school, heading towards the edge of the forest. Time spent in nature, especially in the woods, gave him peace. He would cross the stones along the river, occasionally watching the birds racing with each other. But today was different. The air in the forest felt unusual, as if it was signaling something. As he moved deeper into the trees, Jack saw something: a movement, a flicker of something… A squirrel. But this wasn’t just any squirrel. Its body seemed like it had been hit, its fur was all tangled, and it was injured. Its eyes were wide, filled with fear and pain.
Jack knelt down carefully, approaching the animal. “We should take this one,” he said, “Maybe we can find a vet and help it.” Tom, his closest friend, ignored Jack’s words as he continued wandering in the forest. Jack placed the small squirrel inside his bag and kept it hidden in his pocket as he went on with his friends.
When Jack arrived home, he immediately began to tend to the squirrel. He placed it in a box, putting a warm water bottle on top to help it heal. However, there was something strange that night. The squirrel stirred in its box and made a noise Jack had never heard before. A deep growl, almost like a whisper… But Jack fell asleep, ignoring the strange sounds.
In the late hours of the night, while Jack was deep in sleep, the squirrel suddenly began moving. Its eyes turned red, its fur bristled. It quickly climbed onto Jack’s bed and crawled over him. For a moment, it disappeared into the fur, and then, it suddenly settled on Jack’s chest.
The next morning, when Jack woke up, everything seemed normal. But something had changed. His eyes looked different, his lips were tightly pressed. There was an emptiness inside, but also a strange strength. His cheerfulness was gone; he was not the same as before.
At first, the changes were subtle: his fingers felt stronger, his steps more firm. But gradually, they became more noticeable. It was as if a dark force was growing inside him. His friends didn’t notice; Jack was so quiet that no one realized anything was wrong.
But something was stirring inside Jack. It was as if another being had taken over him. At night, the dark force inside Jack woke up, transforming the once innocent boy into a monster. The squirrel, once a sweet and innocent creature, had now become something dark within Jack’s heart, his soul—turning into a monster.
His first kill didn’t take long. One night, he called his friend Tom over. Jack, who usually laughed all the time, wasn’t smiling that night. Tom noticed something different about Jack, but he couldn’t quite place it. That night, Jack somehow killed Tom. He was so fast that there was no trace left behind. The next morning, no one even noticed that Tom was missing.
As time passed, the darkness inside Jack grew. The killings continued one after another. Everyone still saw Jack as the innocent, sweet boy, so they couldn’t blame him. They continued to see him as a child, unaware of the darkness within.
Jack continued with his life, wearing a faint smile, but no one knew that a monster was growing inside him. The demon that had settled in his heart was growing stronger with each passing day, claiming more of his humanity.
And one day, Jack realized that no one would be able to stop him. He was no longer an innocent child. He was a killer living in the darkness.
No one saw the darkness inside Jack. On the outside, he was still the sweet boy. But inside, the demon was becoming more ruthless with every passing day.
