Summary

Not every love needs grand confessions. Some live quietly in stolen glances and hurt forever when left unspoken. ⸻ At a bustling university in Dubai, Keertana is fearless, joyful, bold, and bright. Her spirit feels like a festival, full of laughter and the belief that every moment is meant to be celebrated. Vinay is her quiet opposite. Gentle and thoughtful, he’s the kind of boy who always makes space for her words to bloom, even if he never quite finds the courage to share his own. It’s a love story written in the silences, in the way he holds his breath when he watches her, and how she somehow always spots him first in a crowd. But time doesn’t wait for hearts still learning how to beat. Graduation comes closer, carrying with it the soft heartbreak of realizing that some stories are meant to live only inside us, tender and unfinished, for the rest of our lives.

Prologue

Dubai International Airport.

Midnight is the loneliest hour here. The departure boards flicker gold and white, announcing distant cities. Families crowd around trolleys stacked with dreams. Taxi horns bleat outside like impatient goats.

And there he stands —

Viney, twenty two, clutching a single sheet of paper so tight that it’s crumpled beyond saving. His thumb rubs the edge over and over, as if by friction alone he can unlock a second chance.

The words on the letter are few, written in looping, hurried blue ink:

“If someday you stop pausing when I talk, I’ll know you don’t love me anymore. Until then, I’ll keep talking. And you better keep pausing.”

He folds it again, presses it to his chest, then tucks it into his shirt pocket like it’s the most fragile treasure in the world.

A boarding call echoes through the cavernous terminal.

For a moment, his chest tightens, he wants to run to the gates, stop her, say something. Anything. But all he does is stand there, heart thudding, letting her slip into the night sky on an Emirates flight.

He doesn’t cry.

He just stands very still, as though if he moves, all the delicate threads tying them together will finally snap.

New Link: https://www.inkitt.com/edit/1570614 To the soul still listening between the silences, If you’ve followed When She Smiled, I Shuttered, you’ll know this story has always been about quiet emotions, the kind that move between glances and half-finished sentences. Due to some account issues, I’ve had to begin this continuation as a new book, but the heart of it remains the same. Vinay and Keertana’s journey carries on from where we last left them, with rain, reflection, and the promise of something tender just beginning to take shape. Thank you for returning to them, and to me, after the pause. Let’s find out together what the next chapter holds. With warmt
