A tale of love & danger

"Eli and Maddie are a match made in the hell that is the American Civil War. Brought together by a smuggling scheme in the South, they fall hard and fast, and must confront their darkest fears on the quest to survive the war. While this is a love story, be warned it's not your typical romance. The gritty adventure takes centre stage as it winds through the years, and it ends with consequences, rather than an HEA. But fret not, there is a sequel! I got to read the first draft of this as it was posting, so there were some minor grammar/punctuation errors along the way, and the fast pace tended to feel a bit too fast at times - the story covers the entire Civil War, but I did not always get a solid sense of the passage of time. That being said, this was another gripping historical tale in the Lockwood universe, well-researched and informative, and so very interesting to see how characters evolve across generations :) On to the next one: Gold & Silver from the Dead!"
