Prologue

They called her the loveliest girl in the Empire.

A name spoken like silk- Anneliese Amara Waverly, born on the first blush of spring beneath skies the color of fading petals, in a land kissed by wind and wisteria. From her earliest days, people said the gods must’ve carved her gently, with grace in their fingertips and warmth in their breath.

She was a rose meant to bloom, not survive. Not to fight, not to wilt- just to bloom.

Those who met her spoke of her voice - soft, kind, like a lullaby. Those who watched her swore she walked like poetry in motion. And those who loved her... well, they never quite recovered from it.

They said she would be a lady of great fortune, a bride of someone important, a name the Empire would cherish. They said she was made for ballrooms, sunlight through lace curtains, and letters sealed with ribbons. She was the kind of girl who never had to ask for love- it arrived unbidden, willingly, at her feet.

She never raised her voice, never chased after affection. She didn’t need to. She stood still, and the world bent a little just to adore her.

The other noble ladies dressed to catch the eye of dukes and princes. But somehow, no matter what colors they wore, what clever words they spoke- It was Anneliese who remained unforgettable.

She was lovely not just in face, but in presence. She did not glow, she shimmered- gently, softly, endlessly.

In every garden party, she was the admired one. In every ballroom, she was the girl they sought to speak with. In every whisper, there was her name - Anneliese. The one with the feather-light laugh. The one who always gave her hand to those beneath her in station. The one who made even the most guarded men feel safe enough to smile.

A poet would surely write for her. A crown would surely fit her. A man would surely fall - and never rise again.

She had no enemies. Only admirers. No scandals. Only sighs.

Anneliese Amara Waverly was the darling of the Empire- untouched by malice, above petty rivalries. Even the crueler girls softened in her company. Even the proudest nobles offered her their best.

She didn’t belong to the world of schemes and shadows. She belonged in the light.

And in that light, her story begins. A tale spun in lace and longing, where hearts are promised and love is presumed. Where a girl like her- so gentle, so good - could only ever be adored.

This is not the story of a monster. This is not a tale of masks. This is a fairytale.
