SNAPSHOTS OF A SUNDAY EVENING
It's one day before classes start for the first year students at Nestville University. Three boys and three girls are spending a quiet evening under the same golden sky, excited for their fresh start in college. The clock has just struck 6:30 pm. Who are they, what are they doing?
Rosemary Blithe (19, 165cm/5'4, brown eyes, medium lenght brown curly hair, fair skin, canadian.)
Rosemary Blithe cheerfully walks. She always knows where she's going in life, she always knows what she wants, and nothing can stop her from getting it. When she was one year old, she snatched a marker from her mother's hand, and proceeded to decorate the table with it. When she was three years old, in her first day of daycare, she immediately ran to the colored pencils and refused to play with anyone until she had complete her masterpiece of a baked potato. When it was time to pick a major in college, there was no doubt in her mind that it was gonna be art. When she saw her two roommates, Evelyn and Clara, for the first time, she immediately understood that they would become the most iconic trio ever. When she heard about the opportunity, that was gonna be given to the most brilliant art graduate, to have one of their works exposed at Louvre for a whole month, she decided she would make it. And now that she is seeing Julien Karthik's smoldering eyes for the first time, through the window of a convenience store near her university, she knows she has found the right one. But, speaking of right one, never in a million years could she imagine what she'll end up having to do without.
Julien Karthik (19, 190cm/6'3, shiny black hair, black eyes, plump lips, bronze skin, dimples, indian.)
Julien Karthik sits and sighs. He was never a fussy child. He would stay quiet in the toys section of the store and be grateful of what he got, he would never ask for more pongal than he was given, despite his sweet tooth. He didn't cry when his parents didn't buy him the big flaming set of colored pencils that every other kid in his class was using. But when they discouraged him from choosing art as a major in college, he didn't give in. He insisted, talked them into letting him try, logged into the university website, passed the entrance exam and got in. So, he moved to Nestville with only one friend, the aspiring cook Beck Walters, and a job at a local convenience store. He's already met his roommate, a cool blonde language student named Dieter Weyerhorst. Now the real challenge has begun: he has to earn enough money to provide for himself and pay off his tuition, and he has to study hard, to become the best of the best, and when his masterpiece will be towering on all other works, taking its space on a big tall wall at Louvre, he will prove to everyone that he's made the right choice. Now he's looking outside the window at his job, there's a curly headed girl staring at him from outside the window, she's probably a bit crazy. He tries to scare her away by glaring at her, but that seems to have made it worse. What does she want?
Beck Walters (20, 185cm/6'1, wavy light brown hair, green eyes, freckles, american.)
Beck Walters nervously fidgets. He was never a bookworm, never a good student. When he was 5, he would say his abc's in the wrongest order imaginable. Once, in middle school, he stated that the capital of India was Curry. Speaking of it, he learned to make a perfect Chicken Curry when he was 12 years old, after seeing Julien's mom make it once. When he was 15, a couple years before he dropped out of high school, he invented a recipe for chocolate cake with no sugar, no milk, and no chocolate. Still it tastes exactly like chocolate cake and nobody knows how. He swore never to reveal the secret, but he was almost willing to break his vow if that meant finally being able to get a job somewhere, as a 20 year old high school dropout. Now, he's at a job interview in Nashville, holding his breath, hoping to finally make it... And he did. Yes! Starting tomorrow, he's gonna work as a cook in the university cafeteria. It's not exactly the five-star restaurant he dreams of owning one day, but hey, it's a fair start!
Evelyn Ma (18, 170cm/5'6, black hair, black eyes, straight eyebrows, flawless skin, chinese.)
Evelyn Ma rolls her eyes. She has never really liked people. Once when she was 5 she cried when her parents threw her a surprise party, and only when they turned it into her very first piano concert, and forced all the other kids to sit down and listen to Beethoven, did she actually enjoy it. When she was 9, she rejected a boy because he didn't have good enough grades to be her pretend boyfriend. At her older brother's wedding, she was found reciting the elements of the periodic table to the (very cute and very puzzled) entertainment hall owner's dog in a storage room. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she always answered that she wanted to be the most cultured person in the world. Eventually, she learned that you can't graduate in everything at the same time, but you can actually pick two majors, providing you're willing to do twice the work. For her first round of degrees, she went with music and mathematics. Her parents, laid back and simple people, had advised her to go easy and only pick one, but her mind was already fixed. Now she's sitting on the floor of her dorm room, petting her cat Yin, wondering if her roommate, the dramatic Clara Hernandez, is ever gonna stop her awful karaoke session.
Dieter Weyerhorst (19, 190cm/6'3, Blonde hair, clean cut, blue eyes, braces, german.)
Dieter Weyerhorst happily plans. He was always a talkative kid. When he was 8 months old he uttered his first word. When he was 3 his mother taught him to read. Growing up, he was amazed by all the different ways of talking. Once he randomly said Ni Hao to a chinese shop owner, and that got his mother a special discount, so the next week she agreed to take him to a Chinese class for kids, and little Dieter loved everything he learned (and every bargain he made thanks to that!) Being able to speak 5 languages at 19, but still convinced that he was awfully behind on his dream of becoming a hyperpolyglot by 25, he picked 3 new languages for his major. Now he's sitting at his desk, organizing his coupons. He has one for a free ice-cream. He's thinking of asking his roommate Julien to go get it with him when he comes back from his shift at the convenience store. He looked really nice, and he had a Tamil last name. He doesn't know much about Tamil, so hopefully Julien will teach him.
Clara Hernandez (157cm/5'2, wavy hair with blonde highlights, hazel eyes, tan skin, venezuelan.)
Clara Hernandez jumps and spins. She was always a showgirl. When she was three years old she danced to latin songs in her living room with her party dress on, flipping her dark blonde hair left and right. When she was eight years old, she played Juliet in a school play, and stuck her tongue out after she "passed", making everyone laugh. (This scarred her as her first failure.) When she was thirteen, she shocked everyone by wearing a Gucci belt, which the teacher promptly confiscated. Her pants ended up falling down, revealing a pair of Gucci underwear. (This also scarred her as her first public humiliation). When she was 15 she went vegan hoping it would help her win a beauty pageant during the summer, and it did. Everyone was moved by her speech about the beautiful hearts of pigs and cows and how they don't deserve to die. Since then, she's felt she has a reputation to mantain, so she eats non-vegan snacks wrapped in the vegan packaging, and has nightmares about this secret getting her canceled when she's a famous actress. When it was time to pick a major, it didn't occur to her that singing was such an important part of that university's dramatic arts course, and right now she's trying to improve her awful singing skills by practicing with karaoke in her dorm room. She's singing her heart out, hoping to hit the next high note.
