The First Bond

Summary

Colonel Rekha Veer Thakur, now a sharp, disciplined Army colonel, carries her past like a silent, armored secret. The shy girl with jasmine in her braid, the child bride confused by an ancient ceremony, is long gone or so she believes. Medals and drills have replaced those hazy memories, but one question lingers beneath it all. Was any of it real? That wedding, that boy, that name she faintly recalls? Colonel Madhav Raizada arrives. He's decorated, composed, and temporarily commanding a Special Duty Task Force in her region. He doesn't recognize her face, but when their eyes meet, a subtle tremor runs through them both not recognition, but a deepseated restlessness, like old scars finally stirring. They weren't looking for love, nor did they expect to be drawn back into a bond formed before memory could even take root. Yet, the past, with its own mysterious timing, begins to unravel their carefully constructed lives. Their story isn't one of falling in love, but rather of discovering what it means to be married, long before they ever knew each other.
