Chapter 1

“Hello,” a beautiful young teenager says into her phone.

“Hello,” a deep charismatic voice replied.

“Who is this?”

“This is Uncle Fester, don’t you remember me?”

The girl looks at her phone and sees it’s a blocked number and replies, “I don’t have an Uncle Fester.”

“Oh, must have had a wrong phone number.”

“Yeah, sorry about that. Have a good one!” She ends the call and goes back to put her popcorn in the microwave. Tracy is getting ready for her movie date with her boyfriend who should be arriving soon. Tracy is a freshman at Woodsboro High, and she has a 3.0 grade average. The year is almost over and then vacation.

Her phone rings again and the caller ID is yet ‘Blocked Number’ and she chooses not to answer her phone. The phone goes again and she answers with caution.

“Why did you hang up,” he sounded angry. “I thought we were talking.

“Oh-”

The popcorn started to pop, “what’s that noise?”

“Oh, it’s popcorn.”

“Ooh popcorn. I can smell it as if I came to watch an old play.”

“Oh, you’re interested in the theater?”

“You could say something like that.”

Then, all of a sudden, a sound of thunder clashes outside.

“Ugh, I hate a thunderstorm.”

“I like thunderstorms. It makes me feel like something serious is about to happen.”

“What do you think will happen?”

“I don’t know, why don’t you tell me?”

A wave of nausea washes over Tracy. She felt like she had seen that in a movie...

“I feel like my friend should be here any minute. Nice to meet you but I got to go.”

“Wait-”

Tracy ended the call. She didn’t hear the guy please because he was too quiet. Tracy then started to dial her friend’s cell phone and went straight to voicemail.Hmm. Maybe she turned off her phone. She called again and someone answered.

“Hey, Jill I’m ready-”

“You shouldn’t have hanged up on me,” the man growled.

“Where’s my friend,” Tracey whimpered.

“Your friend is still alive,” in the background she heard her friend’s muffled pleas. “If you want to save her, we have to play a game for this act.”

“What’s the game,” Tracy tried her best to show she wasn’t afraid but a crack in her voice said otherwise. She went down the corridor to the living room and made sure the front door was locked.

“Ooh, I’m so happy that you asked,” this twisted man clicked his tongue. “We are going to play a movie trivia.”

“I’m not good with movies.”

“Then your friend isn’t good at living.”

“Wait, I’ll play your game. Just please, don’t hurt my friend,” her voice trembles as she begins to sob.

“The category will be horror. Who are the killers that made up Chucky’s name fromChild’s Play?”

“Umm, I don’t know.”

“Oh, I think you do.”

“I don’t.”

“Alright,” Tracy hears a curling scream from the phone. That sounded like Jill.

“Wait, I know. Charles Manson, Lee Harvey Oswald, and James Earl Ray.”

“Bingo, there you go. Max Sodow was disturbed by Linda Blair’s performance in what movie.”

“Ooh, I know, it’sThe Exorcist.”

“You are doing great my little clown. Where did S. S. Wilson get his idea forTremors?”

“I believed it was him sitting on a rock thinking that something could move him.”

“I’m sorry, that’s the wrong answer.”

“No, it’s not. Tremors is my favorite movie.”

“Then you would remember he was in California thinking something would keep him from getting off a rock! Ha ha, well your friend Jill had a nice time in this play.” Tracy hears a scream then a sound of liquid spraying like a sprinkler for three seconds.

Jill is dead. Tracey feels the weight of regret fill her entire body. Shaking with fear, she knows this play is far from over. This is just the beginning of act one.

“What do you want from me,” she pleads into the phone.

“I just want to make you suffer. This is just like Stab, only this is not a film, this is real life. Poor little Sid.”

Tracy runs for the stairs heading for her bedroom only to get hit by the bathroom door. She stumbles trying to figure out what happened then she sees a man dressed in death. His black cloak gripping his weapon of taking souls to the underworld. He was just a ghost.

She turned and as she was about to run, she tripped over her clumsy self, falling down the stairs. “Ha, ha, ha,” Ghostface mocked following her slowly. They locked eyes, and then Ghostface rushed her with a knife.

Quick to action she kicked him in the groin. He went down to the ground holding onto his package. She can hear him cry a bit.

She got up and started running towards the front door. As she opens the door she sees Ghostface right in front of her. She turned her gaze to where she had seen him before, and he was gone and now right in front of her. Was she hallucinating? Is this just a dream?

When she turned back Ghostface stabbed her between the shoulder. POP! He twisted the blade inside, removing the bone from the joint. She screamed and started crying. “Why,” she begged. “Why me?”

“This is all a part of the play. See, you’re just the opening act. I don’t need to kill you, just want this story filled with suspense,” then Ghostface bent down stabbing his victim over and over.
