Summary

Chicago, 1995. A city humming with heat, surveillance, and slow-burning revolt. Supernatural kids like Avery Walker are tested, tracked, and forced to pass as human. Fail the exam, and you disappear. Succeed, and you survive another year pretending you're something you're not. Avery's been hiding for years; from what he is, from what he's done, and from the truth about his older brother's disappearance. His only plan is to lay low, keep quiet, and avoid anything that might set him off. Then he meets Isabella Green, a sharp, soft-spoken cheerleader with something fractured behind her eyes. She has secrets of her own, ones that cut deeper than anyone knows. And when Avery sees what her father does to her behind closed doors, he can't look away. Their bond begins as a lifeline. But survival is never simple. Not in a world where supernatural powers are outlawed, government forces hunt without mercy, and grief comes with a body count. The closer they grow, the more dangerous the truth becomes - not just about each other, but about what's waking beneath the surface of them both. And when the violence finally reaches their doorstep, Avery is forced to make a choice: stay hidden and stay safe, or rise - even if it means the city burns with him.

Authors Note

Hello and welcome!

First off, thank you for clicking on Mana—it means a lot that you’ve chosen to spend some time with my story.

I want to be upfront: Mana is very much a work in progress. What you’re reading now is a raw draft, unedited except for a bit of Grammarly polish. It’s not the final version—think of it as a behind-the-scenes look at a story still evolving. Pretty exciting, right? You’re witnessing this journey from the ground floor, and when Mana eventually blows up, you’ll get to say you were here from the very start. History in the making! :)

When the official release rolls around, expect a much more polished, refined experience. But for now, this draft represents the heart of the story and all the passion I’m pouring into it. Meanwhile, I’m busy creating—building websites, designing concept art and covers, and dreaming up new ideas. The creative energy never stops.

A quick note: I’m still young and learning the ropes of life and writing, so I appreciate your patience and grace as I grow.

Most importantly—thank you. Out of countless stories out there, you chose mine. That means the world to me. This is just the beginning ofMana’s journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us.

Stay tuned! And stay cool.
