Willow
Sprout is an adventurous and caring little duckling, always excited to take on whatever challenges the pond has in store for him! He’s had all sorts of fun adventures, from collecting delicious berries to climbing tall trees. Every day is a new opportunity for Sprout to explore and discover!
One day, while exploring, he fell into a cave. With no way out, he decided to explore further, using his flashlight as a guide. “It sure is dark here. I don't know if I should have done this,” he thought to herself. Suddenly, he heard a whimper.
Oh no, you heard me... I'm sorry!" the voice responded.
“Honestly, I wasn't meant to be here anyway so no need to apologize.”
“Okay, now leave.”
“What? But I just got here! Can I at least get your name?”
“Willow.”
“Okay, now LEAVE.”
Are all foxes this grumpy? Maybe if I get a little closer… “Get away from me!” Willow shouted, fear in his eyes.
It took us several minutes to speak again.
“Would you like some berries? I’d be happy to step outside and pick some for you if it would brighten your day a little.”
“Hmm.”
Sprout kept his promise and picked some berries for his little fox friend, Willow.
“Here are the berries I promised,” Sprout said, as Willow looked at the berries with skepticism. “Um, thanks,” Willow replied.
“How are you feeling? Maybe going outside would help lighten your mood.”
“Why are you trying to cheer me up? Please just don’t. I don’t… want to,” Willow said, appearing anxious.
"I can't go back! The thought terrifies me. I can already picture everyone approaching me, their expectant faces filled with questions and concerns. The noise of their voices blends into a suffocating cacophony of chatter. I dread how they will invade my personal space, wanting to talk to me, wanting to know what happened. I just can’t!" Willow said, tears streaming down his face.
“Why do I have to feel this way? It just makes me so scared. Why can’t I be different…?
Sprout attentively listens to Willow, creating a nurturing environment for him to share his feelings. She observes the tremor in his body, sensing his struggle.
“It’s painful to remember... it feels like my mind is constantly being hit again and again.”
Sprout looked intently at the person she had just met, wishing to create a meaningful connection. However, she unexpectedly stirred feelings within him that took her by surprise. Despite her confusion, she reached out to comfort him.
"I may not fully understand what you're going through, but I’m here for you," he said softly, holding Willow's hand. "You're not alone—I’m real, and I'm here to support you through this.”
First, let’s take a moment to breathe together. I’ve found that when I'm feeling down, just pausing to focus on my breath can help. It’s a simple but powerful way to find a bit of calm amid the chaos.
Sprout softly begins to count breaths, guiding Willow to discover a calming rhythm that helps him steady his breathing. Before long, Willow feels a sense of calm wash over him.
"That's truly wonderful to hear. Would a hug be something you’d find comforting right now?"
“No, thank you.”
"That's perfectly alright. I'm just glad to see you're feeling a bit better."
“Dealing with fear can be incredibly challenging, and I understand that getting through it often feels even tougher. It's completely okay to acknowledge and feel the emotions you're experiencing. Just remember, those feelings aren't real threats; they can't truly harm you. You're not alone in this.”
Since you are feeling better, what would you like to do now? If you’d rather have some quiet time to yourself, I completely understand and can give you some space to rest.
“Please, stay and rest with me.”
“Really?” Sprout replies, excitement lighting up her face. He lies beside Willow, nestled between his tail.
I appreciate your support in helping me with that; it's something I've struggled with for a long time.
"Of course! I'm always here for you whenever you need me.
