Honest and Thought Provoking

"This book really stayed with me after I read it. What I appreciated most was how honest it felt. It touches on topics and family dynamics that you don’t often see explored, and it doesn’t try to soften them or make them neat. That realism made the story feel genuine and easy to connect with. Danielle’s experiences and the way she becomes part of her great-aunt’s family were written with a lot of care, and the emotional moments never felt forced. The quieter scenes were just as impactful as the more dramatic ones. I also liked that the story wasn’t afraid to sit with uncomfortable truths and complicated relationships. It made me think about family, obligation, and how love shows up in imperfect ways. Overall, this was a thoughtful and meaningful read, and one I’d happily recommend."
