I look up to my father as he sits me down on his lap.
"papa what's going to happen to me?" I ask. Crewmates are running around the ship, I smell fire somewhere but I don't know where. I only see my fathers face, tears streaming down it.
"Your going to be strong for me Merida. You are going to embrace the waves, you are going to live for me and mama okay?" my father asks, hiccuping and holding me close.
All I can do is nod. He then carries me to a small boat on board. His first mate is there waiting for me. My father turns to his first man and tells him instructions.
"You will raise her to be a amazing pirate. You will make sure she doesn't get hurt. Your our last leg. Protect her as if she is your own." he tells his first mate named Alex. Alex was a tall tan lady with brown hair. She carried many weapons but also carried a friendly smile.
My father turns to me.
"Your going to live Merida, your going to make it. I know you will. Just remember, mama and Dada love you very much." that's all my father says before giving Alex paddles and me a locket with their pictures inside. He soon drops us into the cold salty water.
From here I can see all the damages. Half of people hang from the masts and from the sides of ships. Some jump off of hopes of surviving. But our boat is burning, the gun powder on this ship exploading. And there is nothing to be done. My mother and father hold each other together on the top deck looking down at us. My mother doesn't wipe her tears.
I wonder why they are crying.
Why are they leaving me.
And what is in store for my life now?
I was only 7.
