A month before the engagement, Amelia returned from the frontlines and met her so-called crippled fiancé for the first time. She gave a low whistle the moment she saw him. Then her gaze drifted down to his legs, hidden beneath a blanket. She squinted slightly. “Are your legs really lame?” Liam nodded, expression calm. “Want to see for yourself?” Amelia casually waved a hand, hooked her foot around the leg of a nearby chair, dragged it over and dropped into it. She leaned forward, resting her chin on the backrest, one brow raised. “I don’t mind,” she said lazily. ...... But the woman who once said she didn’t mind was now the one begging for mercy behind closed doors. Amelia lay draped across the sofa, military jacket half undone, her tousled hair sticking to her flushed cheeks. Her voice was hoarse, her eyes barely open. "Didn't you say you couldn't do it?" Liam, sitting back calmly in his wheelchair, nodded. “I’m a fast learner, husband\~” Amelia’s back arched at the word. She shivered. “Don’t call me that.” “But you didn’t say that earlier.” His voice was teasing. Knowing his true nature now, Amelia no longer bought the innocent act. She struggled to sit up, intending to drag herself to the bathroom, but her entire body was still tingling, numb and weak. With a resigned groan, she slumped back onto the couch. “Fine. Carry me, your husband, to the shower!” She heard the wheels of his chair rolling closer. Her eyes snapped to the wheelchair parked by the couch. "Can't you not use it for a while?" “Nope.” Liam smiled. “I can carry you just fine like this.” “Fuck you…” “You promise not to curse.” “Are you even human?”
