What is your opinion?

Funny and New

"This is like nothing I’ve ever read before and really captures the Appalachians in a beautiful way. If you are a grammar nazi, this isn’t for you but it also is for you. The book is written (as it says) with Appalachian accent and grammar. I did have to read parts out loud, but it was funny, gross, silly, and heartwarming. This is only Part 1, but it is layered and complex, along the lines of a gothic romance. I could write essays on this book, that’s the level of writing this is. It is for the literary lover. And if you stick with it, it has a story you’ve never imagined or heard before."

Twainesque and very layered

"This story has Appalachian mysticism and dread. The story is vivid and describes legacy, ritual and language that literally unravels as the story unfolds. It has trials without justice, hauntings without ghosts and a dreamy quality that distorts time and layers the reading experience. It reminds me of House of Leaves."
